Submission by Sofia Podestà
I work with remote landscapes as spaces where the relationship between human presence and environment becomes fragile and uncertain.
The images reduce the landscape to essential structures, where scale dissolves and orientation becomes unstable. Atmosphere and light act as agents of removal, softening the visibility of forms and creating a sense of distance that resists full access. Human presence appears only marginally — as trace, as interruption, or as a temporary condition — emphasizing the landscape’s autonomy and indifference.
The work constructs a space of suspension, situated between presence and absence, where the landscape is not fully available, but remains distant, resisting definition.
