Like most Alaskan's with the means, I have two sets of tires for the family vehicles. I run studded snow tires October through April and AT's during non-winter. Today I built a storage rack for them to try and make better use of space and get away from tippy piles. #diy #youcanjustbuildthings

I mounted a Vortex red dot on my 12 gauge Mossberg today. It's intended for bear defense around camp. It was easy to mount, it sits nice and low and it looks like a solid unit. I have high hopes for it. I will go to the range and test it out tomorrow and let you all know. It's more than a little ridiculous that a firearm accessory comes with a warning sticker about not eating the battery. #gunstr

GM nostr. Earlier in the week, I was fortunate enough to tag along on a 5th and 6th grade field trip for my kid's school. They went to the local nature center, took a nature hike and practiced starting fires with natural materials. Everything was damp, it was a struggle. The most successful kids went through their entire box of matches, got a second one and used the cardboard from the first box for tinder. After (hopefully) letting my son and his friend struggle long enough, I showed them my favorite EDC fire starter. I jam part of a cotton ball in the cap of my ChapStick. To use it, fluff out the cotton ball and smear it with ChapStick wax. It worked like a champ, I had enough to get three fires going. I hope I made an impression about the importance of leaving the house prepared. #EDC

GN nostr. Today I routed channels into the bench top of my husky tool cart to install t-track. This will let me attach a vise, bench grinder, belt sander or drill press when I need them and get them out of the way when I don't. #diy
