It's 29° F outside and I am still a little sore from Saturday's hike. It was 7 miles and 13 hours of carrying a chainsaw and clearing trail in the state park. Mostly carrying because my saw died halfway through.
I need to go dig a trench now, to run power out to my chicken coop to keep their water thawed. I shouldn't have waited until the last minute.
I did a 3 mile hike with a 25lb pack yesterday. It felt good. I need to work up to 5 miles and 60 lbs before the bear hunt next spring.
New gas cans are great for storage, not so great for dispensing. The easiest way I have found is to use a safety siphon. It's just a check valve and a clear hose. You put the valve in the gas and jiggle it to fill the hose, then it siphons. They come with a vinyl hose that gets stiff when it is cold. I replaced mine with a tygon hose which works much better.
Gas cans manufactured post ~2020 have an internal flame arrester baffle that interferes with doing this, but it's pretty easy to remove. Just don't do that on the can that you use to start bon fires ; )

I just finished install 3" wide copper tape around 3 of my 4 outdoor garden beds. I'll see if this makes for any noticeable reduction in slugs next year. They were bad this past year.
