18 years as a dad wow. Watching my daughter grow into (almost) adulthood has been wild. She’s still at home, and I love having her here, but I know it won’t be long before she flies out and starts her own journey. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my kids. My little one too. About their future. About this messy world we’re in. Europe feels heavy these days. Governments are crumbling, politics is a circus, and everything feels so polarized. Right, left, everyone just digging deeper into their corners. Meanwhile, I’m here in the middle, watching it all fall apart, knowing politics won’t fix anything anymore. But then there’s Bitcoin. And Nostr. These things give me hope. Real tools for real change. I’ve even been orange-pilling my daughter’s friends and you know what? Teenagers get it. Fast. They don’t have all the old baggage; they just look at the world for what it is. Explaining why fiat is broken and why we need decentralized money and networks like Nostr is almost too easy with them. It’s inspiring. I was 12, living right next to it, looking out over the wall from my window. Too young to get the politics, but the vibe? Unmistakable. It’s been a journey – one that took me 40 years and a wake-up call I didn’t see coming: my wife left me after 17 years of marriage and a 30-year friendship. That hit me hard, but it also opened the door to parts of myself I’d kept hidden – my vulnerability, my emotions, my fears. Growing Up Without a Map: I grew up in Berlin without a father or a healthy masculine role model. The ’80s and ’90s weren’t exactly a golden age for positive male figures. My friends and I – all of us raised by strong women – like ALL of my best friends!!! - saw men around us either absent or lost in their own ego trips, seemingly disconnected from their families. It was a time when, honestly, men seemed to have let a lot of people down. Breaking Old Patterns: It took me four decades to understand that it’s okay not to have all the answers. Just being with my problems – not running from them or trying to fix everything instantly – was a big shift. I realized that the journey to becoming a man doesn’t mean shutting down emotions; it means opening up to them. Relearning Emotion: After decades of holding back tears, now even the cheesiest Disney movie gets to me. I’ve learned that just being open to feel, without always needing to act on those feelings, is powerful. Most of the time, simply allowing emotions to exist is enough. Redefining Masculinity: Rewiring my inner framework took three years. For me, becoming a man has meant getting softer, staying grounded, and realizing that sometimes, the strongest thing I can do is to feel and express my emotions. At the moment, I can “only” zap them directly. 😕 Is this a Damus issue (since that’s my main app), or am I just missing something? Usually, I’m decent at tech stuff, but Nostr seems to add a layer of mystery—especially for a typical Apple victim like me. 🍏😂 Any help from the experts would be awesome!

GM everyone, Soaking up the vacation vibes here in sunny southern Portugal and finally finding some time to dive deeper into #nostr. Something interesting I’ve noticed in the past weeks: It’s way easier to purple-pill people than to orange-pill them. Strange how folks seem to grasp the issue of centralized information control much faster than the disaster of fiat currency and the importance of being financially sovereign. Maybe it’s because the effects of info centralization, Metaverse, etc. are immediately felt, whereas the significance of holding your own money (not in a bank but in your self-custodian wallet) feels a bit more abstract, even though it’s arguably way more impactful. Still, Nostr’s zaps have been a great way to bridge that gap and show people the power of a truly free monetary system. Stay sovereign.
