Long been a listener of the This is Not a Drill podcast, but Gavin Esler’s interview this week with Bruce Schneier, in “Big Tech, A.I. and the dictators – Inside the future of authoritarianism” is maybe one of the best episodes I’ve caught. It has the spoilers about how democracy ends. Enjoy.

It's not that there are no valid uses of the tech stack we presently call 'AI' but so much of Gen AI's market investment is dedicated to unsolving solved problems. Take representing reality. We already have it. Fabricating realistic images makes no sense. There are cameras, and you can go outside.

Still get spam calls to the dorment mobile number from the Ledger hack. They go straight to bot but enjoy the transcripts. "Prudential compliance division of blockchain. Our records show that your wallet is currently in a dormant status and immediate action is required to resolve this issue. To have one of our agents contact you within the next few hours, please press one now. Your prompt response is important to ensure compliance and resolve this matter. Thank you." Lol.
