Following the example of the German government and the European Commission, the government of the Netherlands is now running their own Mastodon server! No middlemen between them and their constituents! Welcome @npub1e7hd...zpzn!

Keep in mind we're going to do some database maintenance in about 30 minutes, which may involve some downtime. You can always check status.mastodon.social to get the latest information.

Mastodon went from 1.2M active users last week to 1.8M active users this week. That's not 70M users overnight, but it's something! 🙂

So, weekend tally: The number of active users across Mastodon rose by 294K, and posting activity roughly tripled. Lots of new sign-ups, but also many returning users. Fun times!

Looks like Mastodon's active user base has increased by 110K over the last day. Not bad.
