Today we had one of the most interesting cases I’ve seen. On the following X-ray you can see a female dog with a “hemipenis” with a fully formed os penis (penile bone). Fun fact, dogs have a bone inside their penis along with other canid species. This condition is called hermaphroditism, a genetic condition in which the gentian organs of both sexes are developed with one predominating (usually female). This doggie had a long history of urinary problems, and I was able to diagnose this with a simple vaginal inspection which revealed the hemipenis. She is scheduled to undergo a CT scan to look for abdominal testicles, and vaginoscopy to map out the internal anatomy, so we can decide whether an amputation of the male organ is possible. This is done because of the repeated urinary problems it seems to be causing .

In Cyprus we have over a million and a half stray cats. With none to live them and to take care of them. Helping stray cats can be difficult at times but Thanks to local volunteers we got this kitty to #ivetanimalclinic for a check up and spay before she is re-homed. She was found to have Eosinophilic granulomatous dermatitis. She will undergo treatment , stay in foster care until she is fit to be spayed and vaccinated and then eventually rehomed. One more win for the stray cat population in Cyprus . #savinganimlas
