When my friends send me links to legacy social media, 90% of the time it’s to a video. Legacy social media is battling it out to build the best and most evil media player. Nostr, your VIDEO and AUDIO game is underwhelming. I honestly thought more would have been done by now. What I have witness looks like a total lack of interest in ironing out media distribution (and its monetisation) at protocol level.
A follow is not a sign of trust. It’s maybe a sign of curiosity. WoT makes no sense. ReplyGuy won’t make me change my mind about it.
Humanity will be saved by a “paranoid” who has access to the internet and knows how to code
Reply guy signs a relay not on my list 🤔 It keeps evolving
Imagining a decentralized news network on Nostr The players: The plebs: consumes news and could express curiosity for specific topics The journalist: produces news content ideally directly from the field The editor: aggregates news content on specific topics The news client: displays the news content to the plebs (aggregated and not) The relay: stores the new content and distributes to the clients The pleb could follow either editors or journalist or simply browse topics (and also request them) The journalist could propose topics or select them from the ones requested by the plebs or already selected by an editor The editor could propose or select topics, and then choose from the content of various journalist to edit them together(using highlights) to compose an article (or a report) The client would display these contents (contributions and agrégation) offering various way to browse and filter through the info. It would also handle the flow and split of zaps, or leverage WoT. Content could be remunerated directly via zaps V4V, or behind an advert wall, a zap wall, or as split of a monthly subscription (to a relay, a client, an editor, or a journalist) The relay could offer deals of various sorts to either the plebs (subscriptions) or the contributors (free services in exchange of % of income) in order to store the content (especially if video or audio)
