He sits in his car sweat on his brow. The AC broke a year ago and his mechanic will fix it when he has the time, but he sits there reflecting on the previous night watching his son open presents. He feels completely disconnected from the entire situation seeing the gifts from him learning what they are at the same time they are unwrapped. the entire picture looks joyful and wonderful too. Happy kids amazing wife and he’s not part of it. physically he sits there. mentally he looks and he tries to figure out what it’s all worth. He leaves them every day being away providing, but also missing completely everything. The fantasy of letting go of the responsibilities the of his work, he wishes it could burn like a Phoenix so that he could rise again, somehow better somehow more intelligent, more loving. the smoke of other fires, clogs vision, he curses the smell. It’s not the life he dreamed for he never dreamed any life, but somehow feels that this should’ve been better. The should’ve would’ve. they kill men well before they’re ready but yet they’re still forced to walk and continue their toil to what end?
