Reflecting on the aftermath of the bip 110 split.
The Blocksize War taught me three things:
First, at the market the market decides. Fair enough, here there’s no discussion at this point. At least some clarity, happy about it.
Second, changes that lead to centralization (in nodes) and difficulty of running nodes will tend to fail, as they are bad for Bitcoin on the long term. This does not seem to hold true any longer / bip 110 proposed something that would be lighter weight
And third, nodes matter. Again, reality shows that this is no longer the case.
Mixed feelings.
You have the bip 110 guys, which at this point is clear that’s a cult
But you have also the realization that your node is worth nothing.
You either participate in the network that nodes with large hash power attached decide, or you participate in another centralized shitcoin.
And all influencers who said they didn’t give a f*ck about this topic. Provably I’m too left in the curve and i haven’t realized it yet (which is possible), but this is something I simply cannot wrap my head around
