Our body too is generated ONLY when it is perceived, which means that who we are is something BEYOND our body. You are not your body. You are the consciousness that perceives and CREATES your body. This is basically what every single religion and spiritual tradition have said for eternity, but now we have the science to back it up. So you're not in the matrix because you don't own enough bugattis or whatever...you're in the matrix so long as you believe that you are your body and nothing more.
