Eli Lilly’s rebranding of itself as “Lilly - A medicine company” is one of the most insidious and laughably inauthentic pivots I’ve seen in some time. It is the big pharmaceutical equivalent of the Steve Buscemi “how do you do fellow kids” meme. “Hey drug cattle, we’re not like those ‘other’ poison peddlers. We’re just a humble apothecary making natural remedies for the good people out there. Plz check out our Etsy shop where you can get a fresh batch of our hand-poured Ozempic and locally-sources PReP pills in hand-blown glass jars.” It’s should be obvious to everyone what they’re trying to do, but there are going to be swaths of people who eat this up as if they were selling cave salt lamps and palo santo sticks and not actively working to keep you sick, stupid, and dependent.

I love stumbling across a an older band and immediately digging their stuff. It imparts a special “how did I not know about them?” rush that’s equal parts ecstasy over knowing there’s likely a whole catalog of their stuff to dive into and agony over having gone so long without enjoying their music. It’s not just exploring their music either. It’s the addition of exploring their history that makes these discoveries a joy. Today that band is: Big Audio Dynamite Who are they? Formed in 1984 by Mick Jones, the former guitarist and co-lead songwriter of The Clash. The group blended punk rock with an eclectic mix of reggae, hip-hop, funk, dance, and electronic music, making them one of the pioneers of alternative dance and electronic rock. After being fired from The Clash in 1983, Jones formed B.A.D. and took a more experimental approach to music, incorporating sampling and electronic beats—elements that were ahead of their time. This is no different than a mobster demanding protection money from a shop owner. It’s extortion. View quoted note →

It’s hard to tell if the ongoing global wars, inflation, or just plain old scummy greed are to blame for the sustained high prices of 5.56 ($0.43 per round being touted as a “deal” is insane) and every other caliber. Whatever the cause, I’d really appreciate it if that all stopped. I just want to shoot without having to take out a 2nd mortgage. I’ve got a family to support here and they need to eat. #gunstr #pewpewpew

GM from the luxurious Cleveland Hopkins International airport, frens. Today, it’s a quick fiat trip to Virginia (state motto: Sic semper tyrannis) for morning and afternoon meetings, then back to the majestic shores of Lake Erie. Stay safe out there and be excellent to each other. #gm #coffeechain #plebchain image
