As a Knicks fan, I’ve been checked out the last couple decades, but people have been going on about how might fight this team has, so I tuned in last night. They were down 35 early in the second half, so I turned it off.
Faded all of them except Strider who I missed because I never picked early enough to get him. Velocity kills. image
I forgot what an injury bloodbath the NBA playoffs is each year.
Unfortunate as he was having a great year, but he probably remembers now why he hadn't been stealing bases for the last five years. image
Every era has its demographic you are allowed to discriminate against. Bauer (Trump supporting cracker) fits the bill for this one. Only reason he’s not signed, especially given the decimation of pitching due to injuries this year. (Not only were all charges against him retracted and his accuser exposed for premeditated extortion, but there are other active major leaguers who served far smaller suspensions who actually were guilty of domestic abuse.) image
Paul George is unconscious — draining every shot from everywhere.
The sideshows during NBA playoff commercials (when you watch it on LeaguePass) are an embarrassment to humanity. I mean that literally — just fans humiliating themselves because someone put a camera in front of them. Whoever decided that was a good idea is a sociopath.
The great thing about outsourcing management of your teams is you can bitch about the results, and when they ask you for advice, you just tell them to get it done and not to fuck it up. It's a horrible job, I wouldn't recommend it. Unless we win the overall, then it's great.
Best thing about the NFL draft is no one knows anything. Like that my Giants didn’t force a QB, got a potential star WR, but remind me of this take in five years.
Wyatt Langford stole a base — first one of his career, but still on zero homers.
Was out on Elly De La Cruz this year because of the strikeout rate. Looks like that was a mistake. Looking like a good bet for the No. 1 overall pick next year.
I admire the herculean restraint of the headline writer in resisting a pun image
Don't know if Verlander will get there -- 42 is a lot in your 40s, but saying he's the last one with a chance is a midwit take. He's the last one with a chance *if current trends persist*. But the idea that current trends -- increased velocity, shorter outings, shorter careers -- are permanent is unlikely. The pendulum almost always swings back. image
Daughter and I are using Giannis in our NFBKC playoff contest. You get 1x points in Round 1, 2x points in Round 2, 3x in Round 3, 4x in the finals. Giannis is hurt, but if the Bucks somehow win without him, he might come back for Round 2. Very few will have him. A fully healthy Bucks team can easily win the East. In fact, other than the Celtics they’d be favored. It’s a hell of a gamble, but it’s hard to beat out ~300 other teams anyway using the chalk. Game theory, and was cool to see she got it right away. In fact, she pushed for it.
If you want to understand the Caitlin Clark phenomenon, realize it’s not about race or gender, only about greatness. People want to witness it. If an athlete provides it, they will be interested in him or her, irrespective of the shallow categories in which the politically-minded traffic.
High-stakes NFBC ($200K grand prize, $7K league prize) league. Not bad early on, though not happy to drop into second place behind my arch-rivals and former business partners. Third and fourth place are both former grand prize winners too. Long season ahead though. image
