Gold takes work to produce and is scarce. Bitcoin also takes work to produce and is scarcer than gold.
Neither are 'backed' by anything except the laws of physics. 
If you’re thinking of ‘making money’ with #bitcoin you don’t understand bitcoin. Bitcoin IS money. It’s better money than the $ because it retains purchasing power over time while the $ loses value through inflation.
Once you understand this you no longer want $s, you want #BTC.

I’m taking my grandson and his friend to the movies today.

I have friends and I care about them and I see the ship is slowly sinking and I just want to let them know “hey, guys…this ship, it’s slowly sinking.” And they laugh at me but I say “there is a lifeboat. There’s room for you too.” And they just say “oh you and your #bitcoin .” 
The world rages ahead into an unknowable future...
But that doesn’t stop us from keeping our small town values, guarding our privacy, maintaining our sovereignty and keeping close to nature.

At first I didn’t notice:
- the additives in my food
- that my doctor kept prescribing pills and wanting to see me every three months
- the things I bought not lasting very long
- the media I consumed targeting my outrage
- my money slowly losing purchasing power
Then I did. 
If you end up living a quiet life in a cabin in the redwoods you’ve either successfully quit your fiat job, commuting in traffic and living in the rat race…
…or you’ve been a complete failure at your fiat job, commuting in traffic and living in the rat race.

If you had $1000 in 1971 with an annual inflation rate of 2%, your purchasing power by 2024 would be about $525. However inflation today is much higher.
While it appears ‘prices’ are going up in reality it’s the purchasing power of our dollars that’s going down.

- Days for transaction settlement

- Inflationary
