I wrote some code that is now pulling in USCG buoy 8654467 temperature data into my sensor database to compare against my sensor data that I built and put out on our property. I am surprised that my water temp sensor is only a few degrees off. But something is unusual in that just after 4am, they diverged. The USCG sensor got warmer while mine got colder. The only thing I can think is that the wind picked up and started coming out of the south. We will get water coming into our creek from a south wind. But maybe buoy 8654467 is a bit more sheltered. #iot #weather #microcontrollers

My wife got me some paint brushes for Christmas to replace the old ones that came with some Tester's paint from the 70's during my model making times. I needed something for painting 3d prints and other things. So, I modeled a brush holder for my 3d printer. I know, I could have bought some cheap Chinese thing off of Amazon for a few bucks instead of spending hours modeling and printing one of my own. But whats the fun in that? #3dprinting #3dprint

What you cant see here is the slick sheen of frost on the walkway. I was huffing it around a 16 minute mile with 70+ pounds on my back and exited the woods at full steam and almost slid on my butt when I hit the frost on the decking. NW wind rather light. I field tested my new BTech UV-PRO for APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) tracking this morning during my ruck in the woods. The UV-PRO can be connected to via bluetooth and the KISS protocol. No, KISS is not the glam rock band with fuzzy hair, high healed boots, blood, fire, and makeup. But KISS is a protocol and stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. I used APRSDroid on my phone that runs Graphene OS. There are some places in the woods that the radio couldn't reach the APRS repeater. Been messing with a new radio. This one is very cool. After a firmware upgrade, the radio has built in KISS protocol (KISS stands for Keep It Simple Stupid). Since the radio has bluetooth capability, this means that you can connect packet radio apps (like Winlink, APRS, etc) from your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop systems and have full on packet radio capabilities without needing any special TNC hardware. Very, very, very cool. Handy for both playing around as well as emergency packet radio communications. I went ahead and checked in with the ANSRVR for #aprsthursday, which then showed my CQ in their database.
