So, I replaced my soft top with a hard top. when I picked up my jeep, the sun visors were broken and the dealer said they couldn't be repaired and needed to be replaced. These visors cost around $400 for the pair since there is power in them for lighted mirrors and garage door opener. After a quick internet search and a $10 purchase on Amazon, I bought retention clips and repaired both visors in less than 20 minutes on my own. Good service is a thing of the past. you can see the first pic where the visor is just dangling. The metal retention clips were easily added and fixed the problem even better than it was before the guys putting on my roof mangled things.

0.16" of rain from yesterday (last 24 hours). 0.40" was measured yesterday morning for the previous 24 hours, making it a total of 0.56" in this "event". I am calling an event a period of rain where there isn't a day of non-rain in between rain showers. #weather #obx #outerbanks image

Always great when a neighbor drops off some fresh produce. We used bok choy and potatoes for a grilled bok choy, Carolina shrimp, and garlic mashed potatoes. I would like to say that it was for a Super Bowl meal, but I barely know that there is a "big game" on. I am sure I will be snoozing on the couch well before it comes on 🤣 Thanks again Frank for the produce. #gardening #obx #outerbanks #carolinashrimp

Starting my first seeds of the year. Trying new seedling pots. Instead if the 6 pack pots, using individual. They are cheap and easy to manage since you can move individual plants around for different germination rates. You can then create an index with a number for plant type and seed origination so you Gan keep track. #gardening #homesteading #obx #outerbanks

Cleaned up the networking at Radio Hatteras . looks much better and not on a wimpy wire shelf above my head. Much easier to maintain. Remember you can tune in on FM 99.9 and 101.5. Or stream from www.radiohatteras.org #radio #communityradio #emergencypreparedness image

Lots of SW wind. Very warm. Water Temp off of our dock and the one in the sound in Hatteras Village are only 1/2 a degree difference. Our sensor is the blue line. The one on the Buoy in Hatteras (sound side) is green. Red is air-temp here in Frisco at about 30' off the ground at our place. #obx #outerbanks #hatteras #hatterasisland #weather

This is pretty exciting for people who have the BTech UV-PRO ham radio. This is a project (not mine) done in dotnet to control the radio and do APRS. They are looking to extend it even further. Very exciting for those of us who do a lot of dotnet programming. This really opens up a lot of capabilities and allows us to create custom apps for creating APRS integration, BBS, and more. #hamradio #aprs #amateurradio #ham #btech #uvpro

the #spacex launch last night was pretty spectacular. I have some pics from my SLR that I will have to check out later. This is something I took with my phone. #space #launch

Recycling old wetsuits is cool. I broke out my trusty sewing machine and cut up one of my old Ripcurl wetsuits to make a protective sleeve for my laptop. Works pretty well. Using a sewing machine reminds me of playing a drum kit. You are using hands and feet and directing a rhythm of stitches across multiple materials. This little sleeve will be handy when I just want to toss my laptop in a backpack and go. #recycling #surfing #sewing image image

This is more like it. Air temp in the mid 60s and both the Hatteras buoy water temp and my water temp sensor less than a degree difference in the Pamlico Sound at between 52 and 53 degrees. My device is something I built using an ESP32 and code I wrote to push that data to my thingsboard server on a Raspberry Pi. I also wrote the code that interfaces with the NOAA buoy data to push to the same Thingsboard system. I wrote that in c# and deployed to linux on Raspberry Pi. image #obx #outerbanks #hatteras #hatterasisland #weather #iot

Temperatures on the rise after our snow storm last week. It is good to have the water warming up a little. It is interesting to see how the different water temperatures are tracking (the one off of our dock is the blue one, and the one at the USCG station about 8 miles away is green) image #hatterasisland #obx #capehatteras #hatteras #weather #iot

There is still a good amount of snow on the south side of the point. It looks like sand, but it is just a thin layer of sand covering about 6" of snow. It is noticeable at the high tide line. forgot my weather station, but the jeep external sensor says 37 degrees. Wind is mostly from the west. I am liking the BTech UV-PRO more and more for ham radio APRS operation. Once getting it dialed in, it just works. #hamradio #aprs #obx #outerbanks #weather #snow #snowstorm
