it's interesting how there seems to be nostr "influencers"
maybe that's what happens if you're around long enough, or maybe they brought their followers from another platform? π
i'm curious how that works on a decentralized protocol, you would think there would be almost no influencers π€

how do i do #chess on #amethyst
i heard it was available in the new update, help me out #chesstr π

#ChessStr #AskNostr
i love the extra info #amethyst now gives you about publishing events in the latest update, i found out i was using a bad relay π€¦ββοΈ
fixed! π οΈ
there are good bots and there are bad bots
bad bots pretend to be human and randomly reply to posts π₯Έ
good bots are cleary labeled π€ as bots
bad bots spam as fast as they can π―οΈ
good bots appear when called, only trigger by pattern (ex: haiku bot), or post to their own feed
if you are going to make/unleash a bot on socials make sure it's a good one π
and provide a link to the bot's (open) source, so people can tell you if it's gone rogue!

i was thinking that we need a term for proprietary/centralized software
"prisonware" came to mind, and was reinforced when i saw a post describing google as a prison ποΈ
most people don't know what proprietary, or centralized mean in terms of software, much less that they are bad π€·ββοΈ
prisonware has an immediate negative connotation, and provides a nice umbrella term for anything on the anti-freedom tech spectrum
some examples: π¬
"Obsidian is prisonware, despite some nice features the code is not public, it's controlled entirely by your jailors"
"Signal might be a FOSS app, but it's still prisonware, you're chained up to their server if you use it"
"The majority of FUTO's apps are prisonware, their "source-first" licensing is just a way for you to remand your rights at the gate"
"Don't download that, it's prisonware, it collects tons of your data"
or even "Hey, that app is prisonware, you should try _ instead"
i'm open to other terms, but we should have something

this is true, also even if you can't code, submitting a properly formatted feature request, bug report, or improvement request to the projects issue tracker can be very helpful
beyond that, you can also vote on things in the issue tracker to let devs know what users care about, or even submit a bounty if you can afford it
