Ten years ago, I walked through a museum in Berlin, learning about life in East Germany under communism. The stories seemed like distant history, extreme, even unimaginable. But today, they don’t feel so far off. These aren’t just old museum plaques. They’re warnings. The tools look different. The language is softer. But the trend is disturbingly familiar. History doesn’t repeat. But it does rhyme.
