The mosque in my town is named for Omar ibn Said. Today I learned that he was an Arabic scholar from West Africa who was captured and enslaved at the age pf 37. He ended up here, where he wrote several books, including an autobiography. He is buried in a neighboring county. He died in 1864. image

Alright, I’m just going to say it. Flexing about how little you use a mouse because of your incredible keyboard dexterity is one of the geekiest things computer people do. Not going to rag on emacs and vim, because I don’t want anyone to come to my hose and kill me, but they’re weird too.

This is what we eat on New YearsDay where I am from.That's black eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread and ham. Every time I have ever eaten it, I have lived to see the next NewYears Day, so it obviously is more than just superstition. It actually works. Y'all got anything like that? image
