To everyone on the Pacific coast stay safe. Remember, the Pacific Ocean is really big soir takes a long time for a #tsunami to cross it. For New Zealand it will arrive between 1am and 4am. That’s 8 hours from now. There are traffic jams in Hawaii but folks should look for when it will arrive and plan appropriately. It’s not for a couple of hours. image

I sat down to interview Kara Swisher on my revolution.social podcast where she is scathing in her critique of social media and the executives who founded and run the platforms.

I haven’t read slashdot in 20 years and it’s been over 25 since it was in my daily rotation, but it’s nice to see it’s still around with an active community. https://m.slashdot.org/story/444598

I'm getting ready to launch my podcast, revolution.social, kicking off with an interview with @jack were we talk about Nostr, Cashu, and the importance of permissionless protocols. I'm using my youtube account which i setup 19 years ago and didn't really use yet. In order to enable a few things regarding a youtube channel, it helps if i've got over 100 subscribers. So i figured, who best to help than the Nostr community. So, please subscribe and in a couple weeks, you'll be able to see a fantastic conversation Jack and I had about where we're going and where we came from in building social media. https://www.youtube.com/@rabble

There's a kind of social media inception, when you see a video of yourself when you are playing around with a new way of interacting with nostr.... image

I know nothing about war technology, but it seems to me that the war in Ukraine has really changed things. Are what we're seeing with the new Iran / Israel conflict a reflection of that? Two countries who don't share a border seem to be able to hit each other pretty hard and the balance of offense vs defense seems to have shifted. Before Israel was able to stop most incoming rockets, but now Iran is able to have enough get through to cause real damage. People have speculated about swarms of drones for years, we saw that with the Ukrainian attack on the Russian airforce... It feels like maybe military tech is able to be relatively cheap and agile using consumer tech. Interesting times.
