Why not just break images down into hex string and make it part of the json payload? The clients can then reassemble the hex into an image on the other side? Relays can charge extra. There are decentralized ways to transfer media.

I have been living off my lightning node for almost 5 years now and I don't think I'll ever stop. I can't go back to fiat annoyances when making payments at this point.
