24th book of 2024 complete: One Second After by William R Forstchen is about the aftermath of an EMP attack on the United States An Electro Magnetic Pulse attack is the ultimate asymmetric attack. If successful, it would leave the entire country cut off from power, transportation, logistical resupply, and so much more. Would you and your community be prepared to go without power, refrigeration, heat, cars, the grocery store, medicine? Our interconnected and global society is heavily reliant on these systems that are extremely vulnerable. The government’s response is always to throw cash at a problem AFTER the crisis. But one second after the attack will be too late. Our only hope is to ensure we’re prepared individually and do what we can to help our local communities prepare. Please reach out if you’re interested in learning how to get started image

“The good guys are never the ones who suppress free speech. The good guys are never the ones who confuse definitions.” - @Brian De Mint, @knutsvanholm, @Daniel Prince I was thinking about this while reading previous chapters. You never hear an Austrian or a Libertarian say that e should ban The Communist Manifesto or Keynesian textbooks. When you’re right, you don’t have to ban “mis/disinformation”. image

“It bears repeating that a fascinating insight from these studies is that while confederate [actors] started the behavior, test subjects learned and performed the behavior, later teaching new subjects the behavior as well. This can be an illuminating discovery for free-thinkers who often question the powers that be. The misconception is that just because someone performs a certain social behavior or states an opinion (i.e.: a doctor encouraging the use of a drug for your child which contains known toxins, or a senator who is trying to pass legislation to censor your free speech), it does not mean the person is a confederate (someone on the inside of the cabal). They may simply be a useful idiot; someone more akin to a test subject who has learned the behavior through groupthink and group pressure and is simply perpetuating that behavior or opinion.” Parallel by @Brian De Mint , @knutsvanholm , and @Daniel Prince https://a.co/d/iK52H4n image

20th book of 2024 complete: American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America by @WoodardColin One of the best books on American history I’ve ever read. The descriptions of distinct nations and how they fought and shaped the continent was enlightening. But Woodard, like most historians, goes off track the closer he gets to the present. His own “Yankeedom” ideals rear their head as he assumes that Progressive ideas, higher taxes, state run education, and climate change policies among others are the correct positions. His description of cutting taxes, school vouchers, and pushing back against unions are described as backwards or supporting the elites, without any consideration of the reverse policies being used to support elitism. I’d love to see more recent events described using this rival nations thesis by someone who is more well versed in the general corruption of centralized government and understands how the Federal Reserve has drastically affected American politics. Regardless, I would absolutely recommend this book and still believe it to be one the best American history books you could read. Thanks to @Gabe for the recommendation image

I celebrated the Halvening by purchasing a Wagyu 1/2 cow from @KCCattleCompany 21% off by paying with #bitcoin But it’s more than the discount. It’s more than having a freezer full of high quality beef. It’s knowing I’m helping an American Veteran owned and operated cattle business fight back against the big corporations who manipulate the market and sell us inferior products. They fuck us with inflation and their “cure” is cheap shitty food We’re opting out and creating parallel economies, supply chains, and lines of communications #GetOnTheMission #bitcoin #nostr #beef image
