25th book of 2024 complete: The Dictators Handbook by Bruce Bueno De Mesquita and Alastair Smith The thesis is great: rulers hold on to power by following key rules, namely, benefiting their essential supports, those people in their society whose support is needed to gain and maintain power The flaw to the book, however, is a general belief that democratic rulers are better than autocratic rulers because they must appeal to a larger essential supporter base. While they point out how democratic governments can be corrupt and break rules, they try to make it seem like that’s atypical and those rulers are often thrown out easily by the electorate. They also point out how autocratic rulers often have sham elections. As if to believe that democratic system’s elections aren’t rigged simply by providing false choices. Without realizing where the true power lies in American society, they fail to properly identify the actual essential supporters. Corporations like the MMIC (Medical and Military Industrial Complex) who control so much of the politics and the media, are no different than essential supporters in an autocracy who provide political support to rulers and propaganda. Just because it’s a more advanced form of manipulation, they seem to be tricked into believing that it’s all about democracy and the people’s will. I would only recommend this book for two reason: 1) I believe the thesis is accurate 2) I would like to see more people give their own analysis of this book If you have to will read, please provide your feedback image

“States don’t have interests, people do” - The Dictators Handbook by Bruce Bueno De Mesquita and Alastair Smith No war, no bailout, no social program was ever initiated because it was in the state’s or the people’s interest. They’ve always been initiated because they were in the rulers interest. image

24th book of 2024 complete: One Second After by William R Forstchen is about the aftermath of an EMP attack on the United States An Electro Magnetic Pulse attack is the ultimate asymmetric attack. If successful, it would leave the entire country cut off from power, transportation, logistical resupply, and so much more. Would you and your community be prepared to go without power, refrigeration, heat, cars, the grocery store, medicine? Our interconnected and global society is heavily reliant on these systems that are extremely vulnerable. The government’s response is always to throw cash at a problem AFTER the crisis. But one second after the attack will be too late. Our only hope is to ensure we’re prepared individually and do what we can to help our local communities prepare. Please reach out if you’re interested in learning how to get started image

“The good guys are never the ones who suppress free speech. The good guys are never the ones who confuse definitions.” - @npub1py2c...238z, @knutsvanholm, @Daniel Prince I was thinking about this while reading previous chapters. You never hear an Austrian or a Libertarian say that e should ban The Communist Manifesto or Keynesian textbooks. When you’re right, you don’t have to ban “mis/disinformation”. image

“It bears repeating that a fascinating insight from these studies is that while confederate [actors] started the behavior, test subjects learned and performed the behavior, later teaching new subjects the behavior as well. This can be an illuminating discovery for free-thinkers who often question the powers that be. The misconception is that just because someone performs a certain social behavior or states an opinion (i.e.: a doctor encouraging the use of a drug for your child which contains known toxins, or a senator who is trying to pass legislation to censor your free speech), it does not mean the person is a confederate (someone on the inside of the cabal). They may simply be a useful idiot; someone more akin to a test subject who has learned the behavior through groupthink and group pressure and is simply perpetuating that behavior or opinion.” Parallel by @npub1py2c...238z , @knutsvanholm , and @Daniel Prince image
