Whenever I talk to other Men in my life, they’re always busy doing something They take time to answer my calls and questions when they can, but they’re never just sitting around doing nothing These are the type of Men I want in my orbit I’m thankful for each of you; you know who you are

44th book of 2024 complete: The Dragons and the Snakes by David Killcullen Really great look at the adaptive environments created by Western military powers and rising or small forces trying to compete. Adaptations to threats are necessary and natural for survival. Something is either killed by a threat or finds a way to survive in the threat environment. The West’s primary problem is that governments expenditures on defense are captured by the MIC. Profits are trumping success and the perverse incentives mean higher profits for more failures, rather than smaller profits for swift victories. The major topic that a lot of military and geopolitical theorists miss is the money aspect; specifically the USGs use of the dollar. It’s mentioned how a Chinese PLA Officer identified the US’s use of the dollar as a weapon and Killcullen quickly classifies it as “completely loopy”. This is the West’s problem; a lack of understanding our enemies and ourselves. I would recommend Killcullen read Lords of Poverty by Graham Hancock and Hidden Repression by @gladdstein for a better understanding of the West’s use of monetary policy as economic warfare. Thanks to Jack Carr for pointing me to this book in his last book, Red Sky Mourning. image

43rd book of 2024 complete: Red Sky Mourning by Jack Carr The best book of the series so far. The only part I didn’t like was as knowing I have to wait for Carr to write the next one! Carr has mastered the balance between thriller and war game novels. His blend of tactics, modern technology, and geopolitical brinksmanship is outstanding. Looking forward to James Reece’s next adventure! image

We all think that people find Bitcoin and become better at other aspects of their lives like working hard, spirituality, being a good member of your community. We don’t even realize that when you find the people who already have those qualities, things like Bitcoin and Nostr click with them so easily because they just make sense. @Paladin Tower Tactics are the those kind of people! 42nd book of 2024 complete: Only the Dead by Jack Carr Another deep dive (pun intended) for James Reece. Hands down my favorite part was how Carr used a book of fiction to discuss real world applications of warfare. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was more than a military warfare, it was economic and information warfare and Carr explains how they pulled it off. Regardless of how much is fact or fiction, it is a fact that American politicians and generals are lying to the American public about their effectiveness against Russia. It’s also eerie how this was written prior to the conflict in Israel drawing the world closer to another wide spread conflict in the Middle East. Short of a James Reece-esque character exposing the truth, nothing will change unless we start holding our elected officials accountable and expose the corruption that’s become a mainstay of DC power politics. image

41st book of 2024 complete: The Fourth Turning is Here by Neil Howe The only redeeming quality of this book is that it’s proof of the original’s theory that older generation’s ideas need to be replaced to make way for the next generation to fix problems created by the previous generations. On a macro level, the ideas in this and the original are outstanding. But once Howe tries to get into the weeds of what should be done moving forward, his prescription is more of the same flawed thinking that got is here. He flirts will properly understanding and identifying the problem of the fiat monetary system, just to call for more of the same. I would love to talk with Howe and work towards better understanding on both our ends, but it’s unusual for an academic to challenge their own preconceived notions. image

40th book of 2024 complete: The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe It’s about more than the meme “Hard times make strong men”. The cycles of history are as consistent as the changing of the seasons and are necessary to balance out the extremes of humanity. This book was published in 1997 towards the end of the Third Turning. The authors predicted the Fourth Turning would start around 2005 with a crisis catalyst (the 2008 GFC was likely that moment), reach its apex in 2020 (spot on with that one!) and reach resolution around 2026. That doesn’t mean the hard times are over and it’s all uphill from here. What it means is that over the past decade, people have been figuring out what is corrupt in our system, building alternatives, and creating resilient organizations. I believe that is what we have seen happening as local, decentralized groups have become stronger and more resilient image

39th book of 2024 complete: A More Complete Best by Jack Donovan The third book in The Way of Men series tackles how to execute the concepts talked about in the first two books The most important is learning how to win regardless of the factors stacked against you. Are you going to complain about what you’re up against or are you going to accept them as facts and develop a plan to overcome them? The latter is the way of men! image

The Roman Empire attempted to incorporate all the Gods of the people it conquered, so as to bring them into the cultural fold. By prioritizing and accepting everything, the destroyed the culture that made them exceptional. The American Empire has done the same thing and it will end the same way; by barbarians picking apart the useful scraps of the Empire and forging new nations from its carcass. View quoted note →
