Watching Vox videos is a lesson in the "Gell Mann Amnesia" effect. When watching videos on topics I know nothing about, I find the content nuanced and informative. For eg: I enjoyed and "learnt" from this video about myopia.
However, when I watch a Vox piece on a topic I know a little about, I'm surprised by how biased & frivolous their content can be. It's full of half truths and attempts to mislead the audience without using a heavy hand.
For eg: After watching this terrible piece on inflation, you will leave with a warm and fuzzy feeling about Biden and distrust of large evil corporations. However, you will learn nothing new about the cause of global inflation.
