I feel like it is probably an under-appreciated thing that in the middle of Nashville is a 42ft tall gilded statue of Athena within a replica of the Parthenon. It's the best approximation of what it actually looked like because we don't know for sure exactly. She represents wisdom, strategic warfare and the arts. I don't think I've ever seen this type of thing in an American city. A Greek deity watching over as if protecting the city.
It made it surreal to later that night see the musicians at Bitcoin Park show the sincere artistry that gives Nashville it's character. It was like there were invisible threads between them and Athena and I had gotten a glimpse of what holds it all together.
