Sometimes we do things because it’s what should be done. Salvaging stained glasses from a church sold to a splendid lady (widow). Let’s try to make it better than the previous “restorer”…

Masking tape is my friend …/)) Look at the colours on the walls. You will see the beauty of mouth blown glass: all the irregular shapes given by the artisans .

State of leads joints . Extremely bad for such young panels. Also, extremely thin leads, and extremely “soft” leads. Bad ventilation system. Faulty design (weight distribution).

Beginning of another important “chantier “. Some may not appreciate the design . But the quality of the glass is tremendous . All mouth blown .

Oh well. It’s done . Final cleaning , painted side (Inside ). Here are some Before / After photos / videos. Eventually, I’ll have them in full light .

POC: proof of cleaning :) Damn I love those acronyms ! First side done . You are seeing the Outside side of the stained glass. I always finish with the Interior side , the one that people see from inside the premises. Next video.

POM: proof of mastic ()) Glazing , or infiltrating mastic ( calcium carbonate, linseed oil mixture ) in order to weatherproof the stained glass has also the benefit of augmenting its overall rigidity .

For the few interested : preparing for Soldering. The alloy will be the classic 60/40. With my personal flux.
