working on a website running on #ghost Between following my nose and the help forum I have pretty much got it exactly as I want. At some point I will morph it to npubpro, but one step at a time.
Compared to Wordpress which I was wed to for years, the Ghost workflow from blogs and pages to settings is literally circular. Very clever ergonomics
Just the concept of Code Injection instead of WP voodoo talk of orphan themes says it all, or at least speaks to educating us simpleton users away from dicking around with core theme files to make aesthetic changes.
Not sure why they are wed to Stripe. especially pumping tips via Stripe. Alternatives are available ( lighting Zaps page is trivial to add)
I'm paying €11 a month, which I hope for Ghost sake comes down because it's a chunk of change.
Scrolled through the global feed expecting to experience a seething cauldron in the human underworld. I guess I struck lucky because all I saw was neutral to positive.
I like the world according to Nostr. Maybe everything else is the matrix.

Im not so sure about Nostr being a reliable posting house. Since dabbling in relays last week Nostr has been weird.
every day my profile shows a different nonsense follower/following count. My follower group is listed unfollowed, so I follow and next day all unfollowed. rinse repeat.
Upshot, I get to see one or two people's posts in my feed. At the moment it is Dr berry, all very interesting but I'm not that into diet.
Has everybody I have been talking to unfollowed me and I'm not getting it?
I'm posting from primal, been on amethyst, satellite. it's clearly a nostr not client thing. Would appreciate some help to understand why my nostr experience has gone from great to excluded!

Weglot is a simple script added to your header. A floating button appears on screen with choice of 2 languages, for on the fly text and menu translation. Impressive rendition .but my god, pricey.
Double check but a 50,000 word 2 language site is about 70$ a month. Really?
They run a word count to give an idea. I have one site with a few landing pages and one article in 3 languages, ( it was translated manually) 5000 words in total would be 30$ a month. Big sites $1/1000 words per month. Jeez.
Weglot is accurate, and you can edit word by word, but that's a lot of dough month after month.
Another recommended site with similar quality translations starts at $120 a month for 50,000 words..Where do people get that sort of money!
I think DeepL write and DeepL translate plus a little copy-pasting and a final read through by a native speaker is the way to go.
If you write regularly,, I'd recommend DeepL Write as an editor for all your original work anyway., it will catch all the minor grammar and speling errors like what you see in this sentence running on commas. It rarely misunderstands context.
To avoid internet snafus I have a notepad open next to DeepL' s correction screen and edit off line.
Once you have an original text you are happy with, you can use DeepL to translate it. (Don't leave whole process to AI else you could well end up in robot world )
Expect very good initial translations. Side by side with Weglot they read better, I think.
The' DeepL option is either free, or 17.50 a month and you can grow your bingual site forever at that price.
For big sites and SEO and ease,, going DeepL, you need to have a subdomain for your second language version.
If your site isn't too wordy, put the translated versions in a folder and build a faux homepage in a second language and put in your menu bar. Bit of a faff but on a budget ...
Or even an accordion at the bottom of each original language page with the translation in it.
I think Google bots will find the accordion last and not index the second language, so they say, but for a hobby site, why not.

It looks like the "shadow ban" was down to a glitch with relays settings. Reset the defaults and Im back in the Nostrbuild game.
Not sure what's going on with #amethyst but I have about 3 people's posts in my timeline and that's it. Not that I'm into accumulation but I had an interesting bunch of conversations and people to reference.
Will return later to see if relays are able to pull anything together.

The dumbest thing a greedy leader could ever do is stop the people talking freely. That kind of policy is literally eating their own, and everyone else's lunch.

Chickens lay eggs and we eat them.
Most days my chickens get their eggshells back from me, to consume for the calcium.
Occasionally a chicken will take to eating an egg,. Usually it starts with an egg that gets broken accidentally. If a rogue bird gets a taste for it you start to notice a decimated egg in the clutch of eggs in a nest box. if you don't get on top of it all sorts of nonsense can play out.
Chickens get yolk on their beak, another chicken starts pecking at it. That can end in a bloodbath.
Not to mention who wants to lose eggs?
Growing up I was told by the old timers, an egg eater must be culled. Don't go that route.
Get a fresh egg, bore a small hole in the shell and drain it empty.
Fill it up with chilli, anything super hot. Leave it in the crime scene. Repeat the next day.
I can promise the rogue chicken will not try eat more than two of them.Cured, Alive and laying like a champ.
