My basic heuristic for dealing with The Current Thing is that:
- the crowd's opinion of it is always manufactured and/or largely incorrect
- it is never entirely true
- its nuances coax you into an intellectual trap rather than deeper understanding.
The answer to this dilemma, for me, it to simply not think about The Current Thing and reject anyone's opinion about it, especially if that leads to my having no logically consistent opinion about it myself. That is a sign that there is no logically consistent opinion to be had at all.

The economy doesn't run on words, it runs on actions.
AI cannot act in the real world. Its oversized economic impact is a psyop.
Sometimes when I slice at a sausage it just slices and slices and slices and never cuts. And I get sad because I just want to eat sausage.
Them I realized that my knife has a pointy end, so I stab the sausage just a little, and then I can actually cut it. And I am happy.
I'm going to be calling any place where you can't get raw milk Socialist from now on. And you're only socialist if you can totally ban raw milk, either legally or culturally.
