Saturday’s good things:
1. A really nice long morning walk (so much birdsong and such a lovely breeze!)
2. A new library card and lots and lots of book perusing
3. The addition of an end table I can put my phone on at night
4. Really clean, scrubbed toes. 🥰
5. Getting to spend a few minutes with one of my favorite people
6. Having all the data dishes done at the end and of the day
Feeling deeply satisfied as this first week here comes to a close.

Wednesday’s good things:
It’s been a minute. Moving has been good.. overwhelming at moments, but surprisingly good. The readalong may take a day or two more to catch back up on, but in the meantime.. there were some good things:
1. Catching back up on things at work after the move felt so good this afternoon.
2. Managing to mostly assemble a bed and (just minutes ago) a desk. There are some glitches (and I’ll probably have to re-tighten some things) but I feel like I accomplished something. It is baby steps toward creating a sense of order in my space.
3. Time in the swimming pool. It was chilly today but I went in the pool here for a few minutes anyway (as a little reward for bed assembly). I have missed the water. Maybe in a few months I will look for a lap pool but until then, I will absolutely be enjoying the ones here.
4. Being able to see the mountains on my morning walk through the neighborhood. It just brings me joy.
5. Gorgeous weather on my walks today. 🤩
Thursday’s good things:
1. Having a sort of mentor for skill development at work (super stoked after the first hangout)
2. My friends returned from their long trip and it was so nice to see them 💕
3. Getting past the first major hurdle on my own soon-to-be journey (one I was very anxious about) — having a solid start made me feel so much more capable
4. Feeling very productive at work. Still swamped but energized to try and knock through a bunch of stuff tomorrow
Tuesday’s good things:
1. Feeling really satisfied over the month of housesitting (which comes to an end this week)
2. Getting a really nice message out of the blue from an old acquaintance
3. Learning about an opportunity at work that should lead to some skill growth
4. Immense gratitude today for just being alive and for the calm before the upcoming flurries.
5. My dog letting me have some cuddles

As I look forward to an upcoming stint in a desert climate again, this caught my eye (and also, the current book read has traversed through the subject of political tensions over water use and a river’s path)

In honor of Mother’s Day, a repost of Daniel Popper’s “Umi” sculpture from the exhibition at Morton Arboretum last year . I was so inspired by this entire series of work, but this one seems particularly salient today.

Friday’s good things:
1. It’s gorgeous out. Appreciating where I am and soaking that in for one last week
2. A completed home inspection. Good or bad, it’s one more thing done on the path to disentangling
3. A friend reframing my perspective
4. Frozen popsicles.
5. A weekend of cleaning ahead (what’s normally a chore feels like very satisfying work ahead)
Do you imagine growing things on other planets like this? Or would it look wholly different? We imagine things based on what is familiar.. but what if we didn’t?
