Going through old ephemera, I’m struck by how much I crammed into trips and experiences.. consuming them rather than allowing for space and pauses. I suspect that it was a cover up and avoid other discomforts. And while I still enjoy being in motion, I’d like this next chapter to move away from consuming.. disguised as sampling many things.. to savoring and enjoying. Going to one place and connecting with it instead of speeding through three or five. How do you engage with travel? What makes a good trip for you?

It wasn’t until I embraced my more organic process that I both succeeded and developed more structure in my approach. A good reminder that we all thrive when we embrace who we are. Good morning and happy Friday, lovely friends! I’m very used to having to handle lots of things by myself - because I had to - and today I am realizing that maybe I can and should sometimes just relax and let other people do the figuring out. Part of the frustration (at this age and amongst my peers) is that as women we were sold the idea that not only could you do anything but you should do it all (which leads to totally undesirable and impossible results (burnout, resentment, etc). I think role flexibility is important because we aren’t neat boxes (I.e. my great grandmother was excellent at fixing neighbor’s toasters but a terrible cook) but I also think that doing it all, or doing it alone, is deeply unhealthy. And sometimes, I think we need help find out way back from the social currents that have sold us on a notion of hyper independence. Hope you enjoy the weekend and each other! #coffeechain
