social media is dominated by video nowadays and i don't see that trend changing anytime soon. how does nostr compete with that without subsidising the massive storage, compute and bandwidth cost with ads?

seeing how the Spanish youth is desperately trying to work in the public sector for "job stability" and get paid in peanuts is fucking depressing. these people have gone through college, following the idealism instilled by their parents to "study what makes you happy". most boomers couldn't access high education so for them it's a huge deal that their kids can but we've ended up with a bunch of people with no skills, no way to provide value to society and in a precarious job situation. they think they deserve better. they think government should spend more money so they can live the life they imagined they'd have. many of these are way smarter than me but incredibly naive. when deciding what to study i didn't just go for what "makes me happy", i factored in the job prospects as a rational person should. when starting college i quickly realised that they were teaching a lot of theory but no marketable skills, which is fine if you want to work in academia i guess. so i dropped out and taught myself programming and English, built an open source portfolio to compensate my lack of formal education and entered the job market as early as possible. my goal was to be independent as early as possible, it never felt right to leech my parents or the government. why so many people do the complete opposite? you literally have a great starting hand just by being born in a developed country, how can you fumble it so badly?
