Thinking about setting up multi-sig. What are peoples thoughts on Nunchuk's inheritance plan? $480 p.a is pretty steep but does offer a very simple option for non-technical people. Would you rather manage your own multi-sig? Would like to hear the pros and cons 😉 #multisig #bitcoin #nunchuk #21million #asknostr

SYDNEY, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Australian police are considering applying special stop-and-search powers for the first time in almost two decades for people attending a pro-Palestinian rally on Sunday, as tensions rise after the bloody Hamas incursion into Israel. New South Wales (NSW) state police said they had sought legal advice about special powers not used since race riots in 2005 that allow police to search and demand identities without cause of those attending the rally in Sydney. "If they fail to do so it is an offence, these are extraordinary powers," Acting Commissioner Dave Hudson told a press conference on Friday. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/australian-police-consider-special-search-powers-ahead-pro-palestinian-protest-2023-10-13/ #NSW #BigBrother #Australia #Palestine #Totalitarian

Why would Woolworths need selfie cameras installed on every self-checkout? Linking purchases to a face and debit/credit cards. Do other countries besides Australia have them? #bigbrother #security #privacy #Australia image

I work in audit and often have to recalculate companies accounting estimates such as provisions for annual leave and long service leave. Most company’s on average use a salary increase/inflation rate of 3% and a PV discount of 3% for their provisions and this hasn’t changed for years. So many companies understating liabilities on their balance sheet. #estimates #audit #cookthebooks

I have a spare iMac 2013 running Ubuntu at the moment. Any ideas on what I could use it for? I already have a Nextcloud instance on linode and running a bitcoin node on a Pi. I like keeping my data and Bitcoin node separately. Any ideas? Tor relay? Another umbrel to mess around with apps?

There is a difference between inflation and price inflation. Inflation refers to an increase in the money supply, which subsequently affects price levels, leading to price inflation. The term "inflation" has been misconstrued, leading people to believe that the fruit and vegetable vendor is to blame when, in reality, it is the government increasing the money supply and causing more money to chase the same amount of goods (resulting in price inflation). This is the root cause that Keynesians ignore, attempting to fix a hangover with more alcohol. To measure a unit, the measurement tool must be fixed (e.g., kg, cm, L). How can you measure inflation using a fluctuating dollar? It's like trying to measure an oval with rubber bands. Inflation is a vector, with each item having its own price inflation, making it impossible to aggregate into an ever-changing CPI basket. Welcome to the fiat standard.

30+ years of crony policies rewarding property speculation via tax incentives, leverage, building grants and limiting supply with zoning and regulation non-sense. It is crazy to think that an unproductive asset, a basic human need for shelter has turned into the biggest Ponzi in all developing countries. This is what happens under the fiat standard. #australiaproperty #inflation #housingcrisis #sydney #australia

My electricity rates have risen by 33% since 1 July 2023, but apparently, in Australia, we only have YoY "6% inflation".

Over the past 6 months, thanks to Bitcoin I have reassessed my privacy and security and opted to move away from big tech and secure my sats. Here is a list of tasks that have helped me achieve sovereignty over my data and privacy. - Built a small PC with a Raspberry Pi in a SNES case with Umbrel. - Installed electrs and bitcoin core to run my own node. - Upgraded to Coldcard mk4 with off-site backups. - Setup Sparrow over my own node and Tor. - Migrated to self-hosting my data on Nextcloud instance (learned some basics with DNS and HTTPs) bye iCloud. Next on the list is: - Buy a Yubikey for 2FA - Move to GrapheneOS and Google Pixel - Read OSINT Techniques by Michael Bazzell How has Bitcoin changed your security and privacy? #bitcoin #privacy #selfhost
