Order six pints at the pub and everything is fine, but order four coca cola and the server’s will give you a nickname
Discussing the Lightning Network with Bitcoin OGs tends to be far more tiring than with newbs. There’s definitely a lot inertia, people who spent years thinking about Bitcoin would rather not spend another few years thinking about Lightning, yet they still feel intellectually superior based on seniority.
Giving out (or accepting) free pizza for Pizza Day is a bit like making crosses on Easter Friday, or fasting on Thanksgiving. Yes, you’re referencing the holiday, but you’re either willfully or ignorantly disrespecting it.
The banking system is a great and fun party, although there are some cracks in the floor and the building might collapse. The regulator, aware of the issue, proceeds to lock the emergency exits to “help prevent a stampede.”
Miami was really great. I’m impressed with how well organizers are able to get all the Bitcoin factions and industries together while supporting the grass roots and open source communities. A bit surprised to see almost no Bitcoin payments outside the venue this year, there’s very little interest from attendees and companies to actively use the thing they’re so excited about.
Coolest swag in town right now. Bronze, dollar coin for scale. Not yet for sale but will bring some to Miami!

Awesome visiting Victoria for Bitdevs. Incredible energy all around.

Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too packed
Visa is the worst shitcoin of them all, I’d much rather use Ripple of BCash to pay for stuff.
Uhm so what happened to that economic theory that financial uses will price out non-financial uses?
Zap around and find out
Bitcoin is only going to fix this it people actually use it
On-chain transactions? In this economy? No thanks Shakepay

Imagine being a turtle and *neither* of your parents show up to your birth. That’s a whole new level of abandonment.
My talk about Lightning usability challenges at LightningCon Danang, March 2023:
America builds hardware stores like it builds cities: Huge surface area, lots of wide aisles, but little product from only two corporations.
