I no longer believe the concept of Lightning Network channel capacity can be abstracted away from the user. I now believe channels should be a major focus of education, UX/UI in self-custodial wallets.

自由閪。Defund the system! Passionate about privacy, encryption and ⚡️bitcoin. Forbidden lands, forgotten empires.
If you look at interest in Bitcoin podcasts, conferences, tweets and meetups versus interest in Bitcoin merchants, you realize Bitcoin’s killer app really is just talking about it.
As of block 793752 I don’t have any more pending transactions, the first time since mid April. A mid-summer miracle!
Spent a whole night not talking about Bitcoin! Even scanned the QR code at the bar, which ironically didn’t work. Normie night!
If an event requires a credit card to participate, it’s by definition not a #Bitcoin event, no matter what the organizers say
The idea of a Lightning node as a symbol of social status is a fascinating one to explore
As Bitcoiners I believe we have the obligation to advance Bitcoin. We can do that by teaching, coding, mining, evangelizing, running a business, through art, reporting bugs, moderating chat groups, updating directories; but at the very least, we can do that by using Bitcoin. Every day.
Very cool to see the bar at the Vancouver Bitcoin meetup going #Lightning only tonight. There’s even a Lightning ATM that converts spare change to sats!
Bitcoin merchant adoption, including afk, is absolutely crucial to Bitcoin fulfilling some of its most basic promises, such as censorship resistance and privacy.
Super cool picture showing the origins of Sham Shui Po's wide roads, which were first water channels in the 1920s, then market places in the 80s, before they were turned into wide and noisy roads. Imagine your city’s avenues become permanent buzzing markets

First time having credit card problems while paying with cash: The system froze as the cashier cancelled the card payment, had to wait a few minutes before the register opened.
After Bitdevs always comes Bitbevs
Order six pints at the pub and everything is fine, but order four coca cola and the server’s will give you a nickname
Discussing the Lightning Network with Bitcoin OGs tends to be far more tiring than with newbs. There’s definitely a lot inertia, people who spent years thinking about Bitcoin would rather not spend another few years thinking about Lightning, yet they still feel intellectually superior based on seniority.
Giving out (or accepting) free pizza for Pizza Day is a bit like making crosses on Easter Friday, or fasting on Thanksgiving. Yes, you’re referencing the holiday, but you’re either willfully or ignorantly disrespecting it.
The banking system is a great and fun party, although there are some cracks in the floor and the building might collapse. The regulator, aware of the issue, proceeds to lock the emergency exits to “help prevent a stampede.”
Miami was really great. I’m impressed with how well organizers are able to get all the Bitcoin factions and industries together while supporting the grass roots and open source communities. A bit surprised to see almost no Bitcoin payments outside the venue this year, there’s very little interest from attendees and companies to actively use the thing they’re so excited about.
Coolest swag in town right now. Bronze, dollar coin for scale. Not yet for sale but will bring some to Miami!

Awesome visiting Victoria for Bitdevs. Incredible energy all around.
After six weeks of nesting under my window, these six goslings finally hatched and made their way (with human help) to the grass by the water. The Canadian white-cheeked Nostrich!
