Train travel is amazing. Comfy seats, lots of leg room, a restaurant in walking distance, respectable Wifi, ~150km/h travel speed, stops in the city center, €25 for a 2.5h trip.
Very impressed with v1 of LNBits. Runs smoothly, has tons of admin controls and looks super slick. One of the most exciting projects in Bitcoin, and with tons of Nostr features.
Now who wants to send me some signet sats?
Bitcoin was never “fine.”
It always had to be fought for, it only got this far because of the sacrifices of developers, entrepreneurs and users. We can’t afford to just lean back and ignore all threats. We’re fighting on many fronts, and it’s not always looking bright:
Censorship, privacy, scalability, and maybe most frustrating to me: Adoption.
I used to run the LNBits cashu mint, but it appears to be no longer maintained. What’s your favorite easy-to-run mint? Ideally something I can just plug into the LND RPC
We like to make fun of Europe’s approach to Bitcoin and tech regulation, but there are more shops accepting Bitcoin in Paris than in all of the United States.

Who is safe on Nostr?
For the second time this year I made a credit card payment and I’m shocked how bad the UX has gotten:
- Enter card details and address
- Get redirected to 2FA portal
- Log into bank website (requires 2FA SMS)
- Obtain “secure code,” which requires a 2nd 2FA SMS
- Enter secure code into 2FA portal
- Obtain 3rd 2FA SMS, enter into portal
- Payment confirmed, receive confirmation SMS
At this point I suspect banks are even making it easier for scammers, as they patiently walk you through this kafkaesk security theater.
That Lightning isn’t available as an online payment even for high-risk transactions should make you seriously doubt yourself, Bitcoin and the world around you.
I’m insanely disappointed that I just had to make an onchain payment to Namecheap as Bitpay now requires full KYC for all payments. Shame on you! How do we get Namecheap’s BTCPay on Lightning?
