I went to sixteen different Bitcoin merchants in four weeks. These are my experiences and recommendations in Vancouver:

自由閪。Defund the system! Passionate about privacy, encryption and ⚡️bitcoin. Forbidden lands, forgotten empires.
I’ll be at the Bitcoin Educators Unconference in Vamcouver next week, speaking about how to host a Bitdevs seminar. I’ll also talk a bit about our Nodeacademy! See you there!

Embrace symetry

Your favorite influencers merely pretend to use Bitcoin.
Your favorite nation states merely pretend to acquire it.
The revolution is up to you. Don’t wait for others.
What am I supposed to do here? Am I too stupid to use the internet? Am I a bot?

At the end of the tunnel is a bar with all your friends that takes Bitcoin.

There’s no Steak’n Shake near where I am, but this burger bar is at least as good and also takes sats.

Zooming into Oslo! See y’all around!

Anyone here who configured their car to “honk” when it locks its doors? Because I want to unfollow you
The key to good cities seems to be narrow roads, farmers markets and orange trees instead of street parking

Dinner on the Eurocity 30 to Zurich. You might be better off getting food in town, but nothing beats that atmosphere.

We like to make fun of Europe’s approach to Bitcoin and tech regulation, but there are more shops accepting Bitcoin in Paris than in all of the United States.
For the second time this year I made a credit card payment and I’m shocked how bad the UX has gotten:
- Enter card details and address
- Get redirected to 2FA portal
- Log into bank website (requires 2FA SMS)
- Obtain “secure code,” which requires a 2nd 2FA SMS
- Enter secure code into 2FA portal
- Obtain 3rd 2FA SMS, enter into portal
- Payment confirmed, receive confirmation SMS
At this point I suspect banks are even making it easier for scammers, as they patiently walk you through this kafkaesk security theater.
That Lightning isn’t available as an online payment even for high-risk transactions should make you seriously doubt yourself, Bitcoin and the world around you.
I’m insanely disappointed that I just had to make an onchain payment to Namecheap as Bitpay now requires full KYC for all payments. Shame on you! How do we get Namecheap’s BTCPay on Lightning?
I really like this one. Outside a church in north England. The clue is a bit hidden, but once you see it you might also go “woah.” The old country has a very different attitude towards the homeless

It’s great to spend sats with people who appreciate it.

Anybody else running a Signet Lightning node? I’d appreciate the inbound!

Historic German pub with an unpronounceable name that took my Bitcoin. Will come again!

The inexplicable urge to wander the continent on foot
The Bitcoin ATM before I try to use it. The Bitcoin ATM while I try to use it. The Bitcoin ATM after I try to use it. Seriously, are these things just there for illustration?
