Pretty amazing that despite all this chaos, oil isn’t even getting close to its ATH. Puts Bitcoin’s struggles in perspective.

Over the past thirty years it has become consistently safer to leave the front door unlocked, and unsafer to answer your phone. Don’t let your folks fall for it! Teach them about the dangers of having a phone number!

What if instead of an npub you owned an utxo? Great spam protection and you can rotate keys by spending the utxo.

Ancient sci-fi thrillers in which protagonists talk to their ship as if it were part of the crew feel a lot more realistic now. But still as stupid

I do fear that we are endlessly building out the Bitcoin ecosystem without a clear direction or idea for what problems we are solving. Many of us are highly motivated and continue to build, educate and evangelize, but few of us really use Bitcoin, or are driven by a desire to use it. We are building for ‘others,’ be it the developing world, the marginalized or agents. But do we understand what they need or want?

I really like Bitcoin’s culture of frugality, but it makes it very hard to establish a Bitcoin economy.

Watching doctors in ‘The Pitt’ hand out fentanyl and morphine like candy to otherwise generally healthy children and adults is definitely quite a black-pilling experience. In Europe they wouldn’t give morphine to my 99 year old grandmother because she could become addicted. No wonder North American cities look the way they do!

Weekend project complete: A Pi4 running a full archival node, open to incoming connections over Tor, showing node, block and mempool statistics on an e-ink display. It refreshes whenever a new block has been found.

As long as Google still makes me identify traffic signs and pedestrian crossings as proof of my humanity, I will refuse to acknowledge neither Al nor self-driving cars as having a real impact on our society.

I have to admit, the highly successful Lightning payments integration to Square terminals has been somewhat discouraging for somebody aiming to further Lightning payments across the Northern border.

Very tempting. These would be very easy to retrofit with Lightning payments, and they work (but are a pain to maintain) image

Other than Al, is there any other industry that is as negative about its own impact on humanity? Even the people building weapons of mass destruction generally consider themselves saviors of civilization.

So far, the main reasons the moon is interesting for space travel are: - Lots of grade A historic sites - Lots of junk for a moon museum - Cool sea AND mountain view

The second and maybe even more comfortable lounge on the Canadian, located in the Skyline car. This car also features a dome, underneath which there is a small bar where you can buy snacks and drinks. On the other side is a small dining area with TV. The tables are also often used to play board games, in winter they screen (train themed) movies and documentaries. Depending on how busy the train gets, there may be two of these Skyline cars, and there may even be a chef selling freshly prepared hot meals to economy class passengers, who don’t have access to the restaurant car.
