Morning #Nostr Got more trees limbed and bucked yesterday then hauled the nice dry rounds to the wood cover. I've got oodles more trees that I can take down and cut up but am going to have to build a curing rack most likely as I am limited on space in the wood cover. Our youngest's 8th birthday and he had a great day. I still have to setup his tablet for hiim today which he is super stoked for. #homesteading #farmstr #logging #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Morning #Nostr! Dropped the tree on the hill yesterday and got it limbed and bucked along with a couple other trees. I left the rounds for the boys and once they got home from school we went up so they could trundle them down the hill. There is something SO VERY satisfying about watching things gain speed as it rolls, flips, spins, and falls down a hillside or cliff. One of my great childhood memories that I wanted to provide for my boys, and they LOVED it! #homesteading #farmstr #diystr #logging #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Well smack my ass and call me accurate #nostr! That tree landed EXACTLY where I wanted it to go. The thing had a 10°+ lean UPHILL but the branches were all to the downhill side. Sometimes I manage to impress myself, and that is a hard task most days. Now as soon as the boys walk in the house I will send them up to trundle the rounds down the 90ft slope so I can load them to haul to the wood cover. Trundling is a core memory of my childhood and they will have it too. #homesteading #logging #firewood #diy image

El hombre Naranja manana #Nostr In the interest of saving myself grief later when the ground is frozen I took advantage of the still warmer temps to get the yard cleared by the patio yesterday. The Orgeon grape had gotten to scraggly and was right under the drip edge for the roof. I'd been meaning to do this for years so it's nice to have it done. Apparently there was something going on around the country but I ignored it the best I could all day long. Here in Washington state our vote doen't matter so we just get to watch the rest fo the country's vote do the electing. #Homesteading #diystr #farmstr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

One hell of a storm yesterday. It seriously dumped for a couple hours mid day which did a nice job of watering in all the garlic. A quick trip to the dentist for R in the morning as the storm hit full force then in the afternoon I got the parts for the battery box for the Dino costume which J umped into the moment they were home from school. The corn got removed from the cob though I did lose a few ears to mold, I still got about 5 pounds of kernels. Now begins the freezes so I have to make sure the farm is fully ready for it today. #homesteading #farmstr #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Spent the morning yesterday working on soldering fixes and lipo pack builds, some of which are for my #meshtastic nodes. I got the solar panel late so will try it out today despite the rain. The big job of the day was moving the last of the rocks/boulders from the inner yard out to the wall along the road. With 20F lows coming I had to get them moved before they freeze in place. #homesteading #farmstr #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Morning #Nostr The sky flood ended by noon yesterday and put us at 1.75" for the storm. We ended up in town mid day at Lilac Lanes for brunch and #bowling before heading back to the farm. The boys helped me get the rest of the #garlic planted so I am at over 1000 in the ground. In the evening I hefted all the potatoes to the basement to keep them cool and dark which opened up a ton of space in the living room. #homesteading #farmstr #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Nonstop rain yesterday. My garlic order FINALLY arrived so I can now try to get them planted between downpours. Poor kiddo woke with a super swollen cheek which meant a trip to urgent care. While they were in town I got the lipo pack built, finally got word from @Kaboomracks regarding my now backordered S19, built first fire in fireplace for season, then grilled our steaks over the fire in the firepit. Now if only Starlink would actually get to the support ticket.... #homesteading #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Soggy morning #Nostr Yesterday was a serious mixed bag. After my predawn grain run I moved our Starlink antenna like they were suggesting for better signal and after the move the antenna is dead. Refuses to talk to the router.... and ZERO help from Starlink so far. Rather unimpressed. I DID get the roof extension built for the patio though which I have been wanting to do for years. It works wonderfully now and has the drip edge much farther from the concrete and is minimizing the splash back towards the door. Snow load will be my only concern. My garlic has FINALLY shipped 3 weeks late and @Kaboomracks still refuses to respond regarding my order... #homesteading #diystr #farmstr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

It took my a while to finally get to it but the greenhouse is now in winter mode. Got 13 pounds of produce from the remains and a couple things are still growing in the soil. If @kaboomracks ever figures out my order I might be setting up for winter growing... I reflashed all my #Mestastic devices and got my channels all setup I thiink correctly and am now trying to make the admin channel work for remote management. I need it mounted up on the hill and not down in the hole by the house or else the line of sight would be negligible. #Homesteading #diystr #farmstr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Morning #Nostr Very happy with how the garlic test came out of the #Freezedryer. I'm really looking forward to next year's harvest when I have hundreds of heads to put through the machine. Little flavor packed morsels of spiciness that melt in the mouth.... MMMMMMM. My last 3 varieties of #garlic should be shipping today so I can finally get them in the ground, a couple weeks late. @Kaboomracks has gone silent and refusing to respond to my emails regarding my order.... None too pleased by this. Now the site shows none of the hundreds of S19s they had available... But my order still says "processing". #homesteading #farmstr #foodstr #Hive #peakd #dailyblog

Morning #Nostr I DID IT! I got the stump removed and the ground leveled back over the top of it. That stump had been staring at me for well over 4 years now and boy did it put up a fight. Over 12 sections had to be cut free since the root base is still 4 feet across below my cuts. This is by far and away the largest stump I have had to deal with. I have to order a solar panel for my #Meshtastic node so I can get it mounted up on the hill in hopes of getting a better range compared to down here in the hole by the house. The battery pack I built for it will last for a few days so the panel should do well at keeping the batteries topped off even in winter. #homesteading #farming #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog #countryliving

Morning again #Nostr Thanks to the rain yesterday morning much of my time was spent inside during the day. I popped apart another LiPo pack and separated the cells out, then my spot welder arrived and I was able to build the 4 cell pack for my #Meshtastic node that I will be mounting on a tree on the upper property. The boys got the peppers and celery cut up for the #freezedryer and the cyle is running now. When the batch is done I really HAVE to change the pump oil before the next batch is run. #homesteading #diystr #lora #hive #peakd #dailyblog #foodstr

Hallo #Nostr We had success at the ski swap in Spokane and both got boots and I another set of tele bindings. We are now ready for the snow to DUMP. After breakfast in Deer Park we just missed the incredibly huge crowd arriving for the Pumpkin Lane walk through town. Rain is here so I had a number of things to do to get the farm ready for it and the sheep hut was a rather important one. The wood on the roof is trash so the tarp will do to keep them dry this winter. I'll replace the roof eventually. #homesteading #farmstr #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Not the best of days yesterday as my body went into the yearly Fall nosedive. The quick lack of sunlight causes my body to turn on itself and my eczema goes into hyperdrive. I'm dosing Vit D quite heavily to try and bounce out of this if possible. Fortunately I keep prednisone on hand for just this sort of occasion. Now I am starting to understand the people who bolt to Scottsdale every Winter. It did give me a chance during the day to find the tools I will need for building LiPo packs, so I guess there is a tiny bright spot. #pain #sunonskin #Hive #peakd #dailyblog

Mornin #Nostr Yesterday I've finally started breaking #LiPo packs down for the cells after finally seeing a good video on it. My first goal is to build a 6volt pack to use with my #Meshtastic node, a substantial pack. I'll have it solar charged but want the big pack with to make sure it can get through the long winter nights. Went out and limbed and bucked one of the trees that I felled then loaded it and the dry rounds into my truck and dumped them by the wood cover in the yard. The live rounds will cure over winter while the dry are perfect for burning in the house now. #homesteading #farmstr #diystr #hive #peakd #dailyblog

In the interest of trying to not exacerbate the pain yesterday I kept the workload minimal. I didn't want to destroy the chiro work done but still had to get something done during the day. I've been meaning to move the tires from the piles to stacks and finally got it done. They are all covered to keep the rain away from the wall and it cleans up a nice sided area. I will likely use them somewhere around the farm, I'd grown potatoes a couple years in stacks but no need now that I am growing them in rows. #homesteading #farmstr #hive #peakd #dailyblog
