Crazy the size of the eggs compared to the tiny little bird that pushed them out. No wonder she is always glaring at me. The Flycatchers are as their name indicates good bug eaters. It's good having them nesting here and hopefully the eggs will hatch out and grow to even more bug eaters. Be nice if they ate the mosquitoes en-mass but I guess the bats need food too. #homesteading #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Quite proud of the boys for doing as well as they did on the 12 mile bike ride yesterday. I'm trying for a new bike as the 20" tires are just not able to keep up with us on the 24 and 26" tires. Sled is back in operation and seeming okay so far... fingers crossed. I need to take it for a longer test drive to see if it really is okay. The bees have a new super on and this morning will get a new batch of syrup made the npoured in when cooled later. #homesteading #cycling #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I really hope the new thermostat will finally have the car running right, it's about the last thing in the system that could be bad at this point. I will know when I get it changed. The garden is giving us more with a nice pile of lettuce and a bowl of raspberries. Soon the peas and beans will be in full production. #homesteading #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

First bigger harvest from the garden yesterday was 9 Asian cabbage that weighed a total of 17 pounds. Rather stoked on the camera lens repair I did that saved me a bit of money and also gives me 4 extra pieces of glass in case this one breaks. Late in the day I found this gorgeous gopher snake which was about 3 feet long and very healthy looking. Quite happy it's around to eat the pests. #homesteading #snake #hive #peakd #dailyblog

The rain is rather welcome right now since it has cleaned off all the dirt and dust from the plants in the garden which helps them grow better. After watching Aaron Durogati win the X-Alps I got some tree trimming done by the creek. Still a ton to cut out but slowly I am getting it into a much better condition than it was before all over grown. #homesteading #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Hanging in a hammock suspended by strings to a plastic bag flying in the sky, often many MANY thousands of feet over the ground, is the most incredible, scary, and hard to master sport I have ever been addicted to. Most of you could care less but this is the most amazing thing for me as a paragliding pilot. This is the ULTIMATE hike and fly adventure race, far beyond most any other "adventure" race in the world, and for the first time in the race history the top 4 finished within 15 minutes of each other. AFTER 1300+ KMS OF HIKING AND FLYING ACROSS THE ALPS!!! The eagle Maurer who has won the last 8 races finally lost his title and in the process was not on the podium. I found myself shaking at times watching the video of the flights they had. Shaking in fear, abject desire, and in anticipation of the time I will be capable of flights as high and as far as them. #paragliding #flying #soaring #XAlps #freeflight #gliding #experts #adventure #livinglifetothefullest

The storm was windy as hell yesterday but dropped only a small amount of rain on the farm. It was enough to clean all the plants off nicely though. After Ninja Nation in the morning we went on a drive up to 3 Rocks before the rains hit and found the berries are still not ripe. Likely another week or so if the weather warms back up. My hand is torched from the flappers I got but am still going to go again today and will just have to be careful with how hard I push. #homesteading #ninjawarrior #hive #peakd #dailyblog

The harvesting is beginning in the garden and I got a solid 1.5 pounds of spinach yesterday. Likely the bulk of the spinach since it is bolting but still not too bad. Plenty of garlic scapes were ready and there will still be more to come. Hit Ninja Nation in the evening and got in a solid workout, we will be going today and tomorrow as well. #homesteading #gardening #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Intersting flight yesterday after my hike to launch. Was fighting the air it felt like for about half of it and thankfully was able to land right by the road with the most minimal of intrusion into the farmer's field. The scooter made the return trip to the car better than the prior time but the motor got a bit too hot by the top of the climb. #paragliding #hiking #flight #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Slowly but surely the weeds are getting pulled in the garden. The grass is over 3 feet tall so it has been laying over some of the rows and REALLY needed to get hacked back. There is still plenty more to remove. Hacked out a bunch of stumps from launch and have as many still to remove. The new tires on my bike are great and so much faster than riding knobbies on pavement. #homesteading #gardening #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

HOLY SHIT! I had the best experience yesterday while kiting on the hill. One of my Bald Eagles flew over me then out into the valley where it spun circles in FOUR OF ITS REGULAR LIFT LOCATIONS!!! Each time it flapped its wings showing it had not found lift and moved on to the next spot. After the fourth location it tried and found nothing it just went right back to their nest. I now know exactly where to look for thermal and ridge lift thanks to that display. #paragliding #kiting #baldeagle #homesteading #hive #peakd #dailyblog

The garden is finally getting weeded now that I am taking the time to do it. So many other priorities take precedence so often. The garlic is still pumping out scapes thanks to the many varieties I have growing. Still more poking up that will get cut later. The #XAlps is insane this year and I'm finding myself glued to the feed. #homesteading #gardening #garlic #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Family bike ride to the lake and back yesterday in which I did over 10 miles. The new tires I have ordered will make much longer rides more possible with all of our backroads around here. Aiming for 50+ mile ride this summer. The sled is fixed, again. The hose replacement was very needed and the new fuel filter seems to have helped a lot. I have it purring now and just need to keep it that way. #cycling #homesteading #mechanics #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I actually did okay in the obstacle run yesterday morning. Under 1 hour for the 4.3 miles and 30 obstacles around the school grounds. That was AFTER moving the ton of spent brewing grain. I guess it was a warmup for the race. Got my tow bridle so am ready for my SIV course and also some practice tows before hand. #homesteading #running #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Really happy to find my first #snake of the year on the farm yesterday. They seem to love the rock wall I have built along the road and I sometimes find them under the plastic in the gardens. We don't have poisonous snakes around nearby, our primary are the gopher, garder, and rubber boa which all live on the farm. Stoked the mic arm printed out as well as it did and mounted so nicely. It will make radio comms in air SO MUCH easier for me. #homesteading #diy #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog
