I've dug over 500 pounds of potatoes from the gardens so far and am about a 1/3 of the way through the rows. I did kinda screw up by planting the marigolds WITH the potatoes since I have to dig them up to get to the spuds below... Landscaping work which was nice to be doing again as it's been years since I've had any to do for others, it's just been for us on the farm. Lots done in the garden yesterday as the rain ended up largely staying away, unfortunately. It took until the evening for it to hit. I finally made a loaf of bread since it was a lot cooler all day long, and of course the loaf is already half gone... Need the chickens to pop out more eggs so I can make more bread, takes 2 per loaf. Bunch of cabbage picked yesterday but I had to cut out lots of shit thanks to the bugs, still got about 30 pounds though. The mesh bags for the potatoes work great but the real bags will be here today. The biggestbarn spider I have seen so far is living on the gate by the shed and she is quite prickly looking. The crank and rods are at the machine shop for turning and hopefully within a couple weeks I will have them back and can get my truck back together. Went for a hike and fly on the way home and got a solid little flight in. I finished digging the one side of the yellow potato garden, the smaller side, and ended up with over 2lbs per foot of row. We get some rather large slugs growing around the farm, this Leopard #slug was over 4 inches long as it oozed across the garden plastic. It ended up getting a free flight over the fence and into the plum trees where the chickens could maybe find it. Wow, what a difference that change made!!! Damn is this browser SO MUCH faster. #Waterfox is a 3rd party version of Firefox and I can't be happier. Firefox had become a slow pig and a MASSIVE hog of RAM. Fucking thing got up to 4gb at times and totally bogged down my system. Waterfox is like jumping into a top fuel dragster after driving to the track in a model A. #fuckmozilla #bloatware #changeisgood

Tis the season for spud digging! Hauled over 100 pounds out of the ground yesterday which came out of about 50 feet of row space, or about 2lbs per foot. I really do love Gopher snakes. They are a nice and docile snake that is SUPER good to have on the farm. They take care of many of the rodents and pests and this is the largest one I have found on the farm. Solo hike and fly yesterday and I ended up getting myself a nice assymetric collapse to a frontal collapse that didn't make my heartbeat raise at all, then found the thermal and skied out. Slight miscalculation on the landing downwind but all good in the end. The crank is out of the truck engine and I have found it is not nearly as bad as it could be. The spuds are looking great as they come out of the ground. Red Nordland #potatoes are one of the best! They get huge with few internal cavities, can handle regular watering, are a nice bright white inside, but they don't store the longest. Yesterday we got in a 20 mile bike ride and stopped for food at the 13 mile point. We are training for a 100 mile triangle which I would love to do by the end of August. If we do 10 miles and take a short break I think we will be able to keep a pretty solid pace for much of it. The garlic garden is tilled and covered in grain which will get tilled in once dried. I got a nice haul of potatoes, 19 pounds of Red Nordland, some of which we cut up for dinner. These potatoes are not harmed by too much water and can grow some impressive sized spuds. After the grain run in the morning yesterday I worked on the garlic garden prep then sorted out the #garlic for seed. It has to get cold stratified but there is a bit more drying needed so the bags in box will be in the sun for another day or two to help finish them. Got the last of the #garlic trimmed bagged and in the house yesterday. The numbers are quite good I feel with a total production of 382% ranging from 175% to 550% amongst the 13 varieties by weight.
