The comparison to the Gold Rushes of the US is apt since it was the case that it was not the gold diggers that became rich from the gold mania; it was those who sold tools and supplies to the hopeful golddiggers.

Today, the 9th of August, 2025:
We mark today the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bomb dropped on Nagasaki, of the then Imperial Japan. Approximately 35,000 people were killed in the blast.
A previous nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima three days before, on the 5th of August, 1945.
The surrender of Imperial Japan was to follow six days later on the 15th of August, 1945, though formalized by the signing of the surrender documents on the deck of the USS Missouri on the 2nd of September, 1945.
World War Two claimed over 73 million human lives spanning from 1931~1939-1945.
