这是军管了吗?Is it unannounced Marshal law? #China #中国 It’s been said the flood-hit areas in Hebei, where Zhuozhou is located, have been completely taken over by paramilitary troops, and all voices have been silenced by official orders. image
Challenging Conventions: Embracing Ideas in Contrast In the annals of history, ideas have often served as catalysts for societal transformation. The clash of contrasting ideologies can ignite sparks of change, illuminating the path towards progress. One such enlightening encounter occurred when the works of John Locke, the herald of liberalism, found their way to China, standing in sharp contrast to the millennia-old traditions and societal ideation. In Locke’s “Two Treatises of Government,” the revolutionary notions of natural rights, social contract, and limited government sparked a paradigm shift that would reverberate across the globe. However, when these challenging ideas reached China, they encountered a society deeply rooted in its own rich traditions and long-established hierarchical structures. The clash of perspectives was inevitable. Locke’s emphasis on individual rights and freedoms stood in stark contrast to China’s emphasis on collective harmony and societal order. The very notion of limited government power seemed incongruent with the millennia-old Confucian teachings that upheld the authority of rulers as benevolent leaders. Resistance to change gripped the hearts of many, fearing that such challenging ideas might disrupt the equilibrium and stability they had known for generations. Yet, within this crucible of intellectual confrontation, seeds of curiosity were sown. China’s intellectuals grappled with the complexities of these new concepts, recognizing the need to engage in profound introspection. The encounter with Locke’s liberal principles not only sparked debates but also encouraged Chinese thinkers to question their own societal norms and reevaluate the essence of governance. Amidst skepticism and apprehension, some found inspiration in the transformative potential of contesting ideas. They came to realize that embracing foreign concepts did not necessitate a wholesale rejection of tradition, but rather a process of adaptation that could enrich their cultural heritage. The clash of ideas, though challenging, bore testimony to the resilience of the human spirit in the pursuit of knowledge and progress. It illuminated the power of contesting conventions, of venturing beyond the comfort of familiar doctrines, and of exploring new perspectives. As history has shown, it is the crucible of competing ideas and the willingness to engage in constructive debates that propels societies forward. Embracing contesting notions fosters intellectual growth and propels us towards the frontiers of possibility. In an ever-changing world, the ability to question, adapt, and contest conventions becomes the guiding compass that steers us toward a brighter future.
The highest official at Heibei provincial government, the Secretary of Hebei Communist Party Committe, #China says that the city of Zhuozhou and other flood-hit areas near Beijing deserve to be used as a #MoatForTheCapital after he inspected these areas, obviously happy to see his government's deliberately discharging waters from the dams into the cities as well as villages, submerging some downtown 6 to 12 meters under the water. Numerous lives and properties are sacrificed as the city was used as the Moat for major cities nearby. How can people give births where their lives are treated like nothing more than a drop of water?! This is not only a real threat concerning lives in one city but of all #Chinese all over the country. Anyone can randomly be doomed at the whim of incapable and insane officials. That's why #ThreeNosCampaign are present. Our website: Check Guardian's report on the news: image
The attached paper has provided a perfect account on why there is a #ThreeNosCampaign in China: It is a protest, not only against a specific policy, e.g., child birth policy, but it is also a form of "plebiscite on social conditions" of #China A few lines are quoted from the paper: “A chive’s awakening; we are the last generation.(一个韭菜的觉醒:我们是最后一代)” Instead of allowing themselves to be cut and regrow, many young Chinese are opting out of the system altogether. By not reproducing, as the government would wish, they feel as if they are taking back a sense of agency. Instead of an endless cycle of being cut and regrowing, they are choosing to let the next chop be the last. To refrain from having children is a form of rupture, an admission that enough is enough. It is in this wider context of protest that the phrase “the last generation” should be understood. Protest is incredibly dangerous in China: protest leaders regularly disappear, and the sentences for prominent activists are long. Under Xi Jinping, the crackdown on civil society has been severe. Just before the 20th Party Congress in late 2022, a lone protester hung a banner on Sitong Bridge in Beijing calling for an end to lockdowns and the removal of “dictator” Xi Jinping. No one has been able to verify the identity of the protester, who has since disappeared into the maw of the government’s security apparatus. Protests were also seen in many cities after a building caught fire in Urumqi, Xinjiang Province, in late November, killing 10 people. The “white paper” protest that followed saw demonstrations across the country, with thousands amassing on Urumqi Road in Shanghai and some calling for Xi Jinping to step down. However, these protests were quickly shut down by the security forces. Reports alleged that the police were stopping people and inspecting their mobile phones for foreign apps such as Instagram or Twitter, forcing users to delete content related to the protests. “The last generation” is a much more subtle and resigned form of protest. Rather than take to the streets to rail against the state of affairs and risk losing their precarious social position, many young Chinese are instead marking their unease by refusing to participate in the nation’s future. “China’s zero-COVID policy has led to a zero economy, zero marriages, zero fertility,” said leading Chinese demographer Yi Fuxian. Considering that China’s governing system does not allow much in the way of political participation and strays far from the Western understanding of democracy — despite the claim of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that it is, in fact, very much a Chinese-style democracy — the choice by young Chinese to not have children can be seen as a kind of plebiscite on social conditions. #the-last-generation--14852

When a civil servant attended the court in 2021, he was charged with "contempt of court" because he was wearing a black sweater with a "yellow umbrella" pattern on it, which attracted the attention of several judges. The Department of Justice pointed out that " #旁聽師 " is one of the methods of protest; the judge said that "yellow umbrella" is a #political symbol and cannot exist in court. The case raises concerns about whether "auditor" will be labeled as a type of " #政治抗爭 ".
Some back stories about Chinese Asian Game: Vietnam declined to hold the game, while China gladly took over the hosting of the game, and subsequently invested 300 billion. Some ‘body’ proposed to invite Russia, a Non-Asian country and allegedly a war crime invader. The offer shocked participating countries. Australia and New Zealand were among the first to refuse to participate in the game. Then another six countries rejected invitation from China. Now another five countries follow suit. Asian Game, expecting more than thirty participating countries, will welcome just a half. Story originally came from Chinese’In’-ternet social media platform as attached. image
The attached video “The Failures and Legacies of Marxism” is a subtitled translation of a Yale University’s open course lecture. It was posted three years ago. At the moment, if you input the key words “耶鲁 马克思主义“ in the YouTube search box, it comes out the first one! I am so proud of my contribution to the Chinese community in the education of #Marxism. I especially use “China government” because I am a Chinese, and that government is not my government. It is “China” but not “Chinese” government. I didn’t choose to be born a Chinese, but I have the right to decide whether a government is my government. At present, China is occupied by “China government”, which I have never elected or consented. View quoted note →
Doctoral advisor of National University of Defence Technology (NUDT) died in an traffic accident at age of 38. The university was his alma mater too. As a graduate from this military university, he was sent by China government to study at Harvard university etc (by hiding his military background). He was military AI expert and leader in Chinese military before his ugly death. #China #MilitaryTalent #Accident 🎶 🧨🎉
