This year I interviewed with a different company though I am good where I'm at now, I still shop around and try to leverage my position. I realized the pay was roughly 30% worse so I was automatically out unless that changed. The thing I think is interesting and can be learned from this though is the company didn't say "yeah we suck, we're not good enough for you, we're a downgrade for you et cetera. " No, they pursued me harder. They tried to keep me while I was leaving the interview, they sent texts and emails explaining how this pay is actually competitive if not better than my current. They would be okay with ME losing so long as they get me. I broke the numbers down black and white and they STILL didn't own up and admit they suck, that just blows my mind but lesson learned. Most people are pieces of shit who only care about themselves
