I have been listening to podcasts discussing the measurement and precision of Egyptian stone vases that are some of the oldest artifacts found from ancient Egypt.
The precision of manufacture on these vases are on par with what I see in the aerospace machining world.
How the Egyptians made these thousands of years ago is a REMARKABLE mystery that should been met with way more curiosity.

TOOL TIP TUESDAY:
I am now resurrecting an old CNC mill conversion that was started over ten years ago.
Need to solder quick connectors onto the stepper motors.
There is nothing like the ease of use of a good solder station over those solder irons in the hardware store.
Night and day!

In my latest video I talk about the growing trend of cordless tools in the DIY world.
They seem to be taking over…

When we create things, it comes for our spirit…
Whether we create family, writing or a beautiful table.
They are expressions of us.

GM! Nostr,
Which has more risk…
To live out someone else’s dream with your limited time and be successful?
Or, to live out your dream and be unsuccessful?

I am very proud of her! View quoted note →
The first time I ever made a plywood workbench top, I used just a sheet of plywood and some supports.
It was not successful. It sagged and was not good.
Now, I am testing torsion boxes to be sandwiched in between two plywood sheets.
The boxes (pictured) should give the benchtop extra strength.
Will see how it goes this weekend, when I glue the plywood on.

🔧 NOSTR Q&A TIME! 🔧
Got a workshop question? Let’s tackle it together.
It’s been a while since the last one, so I’m bringing back the Q&A! If you’re stuck on something—woodworking, finishing, metalwork, tools—drop your question below! 👇
Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Reply to this post with your question.
2️⃣ I’ll pick a few to answer in an upcoming YouTube video on Fabricator’s Field Guide.

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is smooth and inexpensive woodworking material.
It comes in various thicknesses and is usually in 4x8 foot sheets.
—but it has quirks!
If you fasten it with screws or nails the wrong way.
Into the end grain.
It will split like a stack of crackers!

We’ve all used it…
Construction lumber from the big box store in woodworking.
2x4s, 2x6s, etc.
In this weeks Fabricators Field Guide. I discuss ways to make it more presentable for your wood projects.

GM! And happy Friday!
You don’t need to know exactly how a project ends—just take the first step…
Trust your intuition.
The best builds evolve as they go.
A plan is needed, but the ability to fix mistakes is what makes pros different.

TOOL TRACKER TUESDAY:
When I first got into woodworking, I picked up an 18-gauge brad nailer as my first pneumatic nail gun. It was a solid choice—but it only shot brads up to 1 1/4”. That limitation showed up quick on deeper or tougher projects.
If you’re just starting out today, I’d recommend an 18-gauge nailer that can handle up to 2” brads. It’s still beginner-friendly, doesn’t require a big compressor, and can cover most trim, cabinet, and small project work.
Reliable brands to check out: DeWalt, Senco, Metabo.
What was your first nail gun—and would you still recommend it? Drop your thoughts below!

GM ! Nostr!
Happy Friday!
What projects do you have planned for the weekend?
I will be making a new wood table top for an old metal bench that I have…
More horizontal surface to collect clutter!
Cheers!
Focus on learning…
not accumulating tools.
Skills will get you further than gear ever will.
