When you were a kid, did you watch cool action movies or play any new call of duty games?
What were your impressions then? Was it possible to imagine that I or my neighbor in the hole could survive in much worse conditions? There were explosions, gunfire, the sound of heavy equipment landing, extremely difficult situations in which we live day after day.
If in 2017-18 I had been told and shown my future, I would have rather pissed myself with fear, because, like, "How is this possible?"
My standard firmware in my head required: eat, sleep in warmth, earn money to eat and sleep. That was it. What the fuck is a war?
And now what?
And now I'm sitting quietly in a trench, covered in mud after a night of fucking, with several corpses lying nearby with open mouths and empty eyes. I have blood and mud on my hands.
And, like, it became normal....
In my past life, I was afraid to go to the cemetery at night, and here are corpses and, like... Normal... It happens... You can also eat food while looking them in the eye. The main thing is not to show up on the thermal imager at night, not to be blown up.
Humans have an amazing ability to adapt. Each of the fighters around me never expected such a life, and some were even afraid, but now they just do their kohweh, plan the day and distribute responsibilities.
Calmly, confidently, without unnecessary panic and fuss.
