I think the "whataboutism" that your are talking about is real like you say. I argue that it is caused by specific factors though. The US itself is militarily occupying countless countries. Many of these countries are engaged in conflict. The US has taken sides and militarized those that they deem innocent or "virtuous." People are hesitant to say something that would make them hypocritical nationalists. Whether the US is right or wrong in whose side they take is irrelevant. This is because the US does not care about seeing the end to a war like we are lead to believe. To your last statement- that the country that comes to the defense of the innocent is virtuous, I disagree. With US involvement, the war has been exasperated and prolonged longer than it would have. More lives have been lost on both sides. My framework may be off here, but if it is, I hope you can explain how so. Lastly, people don't put a lot of attention on how bad Putin is because it is something that is widely understood.

I find it truly disheartening that people would want to end their own lives because their mindsets of their lives have been plundered into the lens of doom and meaninglessness. Canada is showing their suffering civilians that their outlooks on life are what is rational. New legislation coming into effect in March of 2024 will allow people to kill themselves with government help. I am for a free market. I don't like taxes and government spending of any sort. This seems like some of the worst government spending possible. Rather than trying to improve citizens freedom and therefore improving optimism and hope in their society, Canada has chosen to pick up the tab on citizens suicides. Thus making their people pay for their own deaths. Because of course, Lowering taxes is a forfeiture of control and therefore is off the table. I urge Canadiens and everyone else to opt out of fiat currencies now more than ever.
