Question for #nostr - #plebchain - #grownostr - I have used this off and on- mostly on #Damus. I haven’t gained a lot of followers or sats but I am getting really tired of fighting the commies over on instagram etc. what is the best way for a musician to be sharing content on Nostr- I’m thinking of hosting the main videos on my website and rumble and sharing them here. I just wish I could share video here easily. That is the one downside. Anyway, obviously this is a place that can be utilized both to grow a fan base and potentially grow #bitcoin - would love feedback on how to utilize it better. One picture is from this morning. Thinking about this day a little bit this morning, it was my sons first birthday 8 years ago- I was on my first big fire in Washington state. We drove through an eternity of flames on both sides of the road that night. Feeling the heat I remember writing a letter to my boy. We lost 3 firefighters that week and it was a sobering complex to say the least. Ended up being one of the worst in WA state history. I’ve lost friends and mentors since then in the line of duty and think of them often, praying for their families. This year I’m taking some time off to make a record but I plan to get back to work as a volunteer in my community again next season. Praying for all the first responders working through this season. I know, I know, who buys CDs anymore? The second album Poison in the Wires is something of a concept album largely inspired by reading and learning about the political landscape in the US during the early years of the Obama administration. Here is a link to a tune I wrote a few days ago. It’s called Forest. It’s sorta a song about the internet and sorta song about faith, or rather, trying so hard to prove reasons for faith (to yourself or others) that you wind up missing things along the way. I guess #nostr doesn’t have a good way for me to upload a video like this yet. Every app seems to favor little clips instead of long enough videos for whole songs. TikTok is all about short videos. I sorta hate that. I feel like if I’m gonna make a video of a song, that it’s best to bring it all the way home. Anyway- here the link is to the video of the whole song on my instagram page. New song, this is likely not the finished product but I’ve been wanting to share it for a bit. I’m playing around with videos a bit but I’m not very good at it yet. This is a song I wrote around the early days of Covid as we all searched for answers on our phones and locked ourselves in our houses. A few months before that I had a vision that sent me on a search. I made a deal with God and told him I’d go back to church if someone was preaching on Genesis. A week later a Pastor I happened to have just met was starting a series on Genesis. I’ve been trying to re learn how to pray ever since. I don’t do well at it every day, and I’m a sinner who needs it. I’ve heard the verse and prayer brought up recently and have been reflecting on it a bit- “Lord I believe, Help my unbelief.” If you don’t pray- or struggle with belief and want to try to pray, a good place to start is to ask for help with unbelief. Okay- so I’m working on two albums and a book, really the book the liner notes for the albums, I’m just long winded so it’s gonna be a book, not a long one, and I don’t think it’ll be a dumb one. Anyway, I keep seeing all sorts of stuff about #proofofwork posts and it makes me wonder if I couldn’t crowdfund the project somehow with #bitcoin on #nostr - curious. Music on the internet is a pain in the a$$ and I’m making these things regardless of whether or I get paid for it or not. I’ve been doing that my whole life. Never been after getting famous or rich from it. It’s what I am here to do and art is both a blessing and a burden, it’s a burden when you’ve carried it all too long and that is what I did with my music the last ten years. I carried it instead of sharing it. That has stopped and I’m back to sharing but as I write this, I just transferred some money out of bitcoin cause we we are little lite on cash and I’m like, if this community can fund some of the things I’m seeing funded maybe there is an opportunity to grow this from here. Curious if anyone has any thoughts on how, I am not a tech guy, I’m decent as a sound engineer and a good songwriter and performer but a lot of of tech things are just beyond me, I’m also not great at marketing. So any ideas for how to frame this and promote it on nostr would be appreciated.
