“The victim of thought manipulation does not know that they are a victim. To them, the walls of their prison are invisible, and they believe themselves to be free.” — Aldous Huxley image

A Room of One’s Own Virginia Woolf This book is absolutely worth reading — not only for women, but for men as well. „A Room of One’s Own“ still feels surprisingly relevant today. “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” — Virginia Woolf At first, the quote sounds simple. But Woolf expresses something deeply human: intellectual and emotional wellbeing are tied to physical conditions. A hungry person struggles to think clearly, to feel at peace, or to create. Woolf was also criticising a society that romanticises suffering. Creativity does not grow from deprivation alone. Stability, dignity, and peace of mind give people the freedom to think and live fully. In her feminist argument, Woolf especially referred to women, who were historically denied financial independence and personal space. “Dined well” therefore means more than food. It also symbolises security, stability, and humane living conditions. Even today, the quote remains powerful because it reminds us that no one can truly flourish intellectually or emotionally while constantly struggling to survive. #bookreading #books #virginiawoolf #philosophy #existentialism #literature #feminism image
