Jack Mallers breaking down his theory on Bessent's broader monetary strategy: "Why is Bessent allowing the move index to potentially cause a financial crisis? Well, he's blowing the euro system up... France has every single weakness at once. Massive debt, massive deficits, a huge government. The voters refuse to fight for cuts. And France can't print its own money. Scott Bessent blew up the Bank of England. If anyone knows, he knows."

Square unveiled a new self-service kiosk for restaurants with a 21.5-inch touchscreen and built-in voice ordering. Guests can speak their full order, ask menu questions, and pay with tap, dip, or PIN on the same screen. The kiosk uses sales data to make upsell suggestions based on time of day and what's already in the cart. It syncs with Square's POS system so menu and inventory changes push automatically.

HEX and PulseChain founder Richard Heart (real name Richard James Schueler) has been arrested in Istanbul following a joint Turkish intelligence and police operation. Heart was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice issued at Finland's request, primarily for aggravated tax fraud. Police detained Heart and his wife at a residence in the Beşiktaş district after extensive surveillance. Authorities reportedly seized large amounts of cash, dozens of luxury watches, gold jewelry, firearms, and electronic devices, though exact figures vary across Turkish media reports. The SEC filed charges against Heart in 2023 for raising over $1 billion through unregistered crypto offerings, but a U.S. judge dismissed the case in early 2025 for lack of jurisdiction. The Interpol notice stems from separate Finnish criminal allegations.

NY Fed President John Williams says one more rate hike is appropriate this year, but he doesn't expect the Fed to raise rates again in 2027. "He sees no signs of an overheated economy. The labor market's in balance. The tariff inflation effect will fade. And he says even if energy prices stay up, they're not going to push inflation higher next year." "If market rates stay at this level, the Fed doesn't have to do a whole lot more."

Coinbase publishes article proposing a technical roadmap for Bitcoin's post-quantum security transition. "Coinbase believes that Bitcoin will continue to be the most trusted cryptocurrency in a post-quantum world." The company is pushing for quantum-resistant signatures, hybrid spending paths, and a migration plan for the estimated 6.7 to 7 million BTC held behind keys already exposed onchain. "Some questions, including how to handle abandoned or inaccessible coins, are difficult and deserve thoughtful debate. In our view, that discussion can continue alongside the technical work to add post-quantum signature support to Bitcoin." https://www.coinbase.com/blog/working-together-on-btc-post-quantum-readiness image

Jack Mallers on why the Fed's rate hikes might be making the problem worse, not better. "When the Fed raises rates, the treadmill speeds up because every dollar the government borrows costs more. And the legs slow down because higher rates slow the whole economy. The rate hike gives the government exactly what it can't afford."
